This event is open for all students and parents in Solomon USD 393. Elementary students will be participating in educational games and activities. No Gossip Week In attempt to decrease bullying behaviors in the middle school, Mr. Long, School Counselor has implemented “No Gossip Week” in the middle school for the week of: October 20 October 24. In the middle school commons a large, secure trash can, will be placed. If a student feels the need to speak negatively about a classmate they are to write their comment on a piece of paper and place it in the trash can. They will not share their comment with anyone else. In addition middle school seminar classes will be creating, “no gossip” themed posters to be displayed in the middle school commons. The winning class will receive a prize. The purpose behind this strategy is to teach young people that words can be as damaging as physical pain. Bullying is a problem affecting every school in America. The only way to solve the problem is to teach kids the proper skills to eliminate bullying. Bullying Report Form Mr. Long has created a Google Form that students can anonymously fill out to report a bullying incident. The incident can be something the student observed or experienced. The only people who can access the information contained in the report form is Mr. Long and myself. This is an excellent way to tackle the bullying troubles that plague our nation’s school’s today. Please visit with your child regarding this form and we will announce it at school as well. To access the form visit, www.usd393.net , click on news, click on bullying report form, and then fill out the Google Form and click submit.
