Solid Waste & Recycling Guide for the City of Auburn Hills Effective May 1, 2018 ® YARD WASTE SERVICE Frequency Pick-up once per week collection at curbside April through November. Note: Units within condominium associations with neighborhood-wide contracted yard service will not be required to utilize this curbside service. Collection Time Materials placed at curb by 7:00 a.m. on trash collection day. See map on reverse side for service day. Containers Customers may use paper yard waste bags or containers up to 32-gallons in capacity with proper sticker facing the street (50-pound weight limit). Stickers, which state “Yard Waste” are available at the Department of Public Services, City Hall and the Community Center for 32-gallon containers. Carts may not be used for this service due to their weight. No plastic bags. Volume No volume limits. Yard Waste Materials Yard waste materials include grass clippings, leaves, weeds, prunings, garden and fruit waste, incidental dirt from edging and planting, small sticks, and branches up to 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter. Bundle brush and branches that are 4 inches in diameter or less in 3 - 4 foot long bundles with string. Please insure bundles weigh less than 50 lbs, and are no larger than 18 inches around. Yard waste mixed with rubbish cannot be collected. Christmas Trees Included year round. Prohibited Materials WM cannot accept branches over 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter, stumps, shrubs with root balls and dirt, large quantities of dirt, sand, gravel, pet waste, plastic bags with yard waste, etc. RECYCLING SERVICE Frequency Pick up once per week collection at curbside. Prohibited Materials WM cannot collect liquids, hazardous/flammable materials, auto parts/batteries, whole tires, yard waste mixed with trash, large quantities of construction materials, etc.

LARGE ITEMSBulk items may be set out at the curb on regular day: • Properly prepared carpet/pad — 4’ lengths rolled and tied, 50 lb. max • Mattress/box spring • Furniture • Appliances • Refrigerators — doors removed for safety, with or without Freon • Fixtures, etc.

OTHER INFORMATIONBilling Residents will have the option to pay annually, quarterly, or through their homeowners association where available. All billing will be done directly through WM. Residents can set up an automatic payment program.

“Snow-Bird” Discount Once per year a customer will be able to stop service for up to 13-consecutive weeks with prorated bill. The 13 week snowbird option can cover two calendar years (example: from December to January). Residents paying annually and quarterly will be able to take advantage of this option (one month minimum.) Call WM at 800.796.9696 or 866.797.9018 for information.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULEIf a holiday falls on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, your service falls one day behind.

Holidays Observed: New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
