Chippewa Valley Ethanol Company June 5th, 2015 270 20th St. NW Benson, MN. 56215 Attn: Bob Jewell (Energy Systems Chief) Dear Bob, I am writing to inform you of what a great job I think your Boiler Operating Team has been doing, regarding water treatment control. It is clear to me that they all take their jobs seriously and have been paying attention to detail. Over the past 6 months or so, I have noticed (when running my routine water testing) that almost all chemical residuals are falling within the set parameters consistently. Your “top notch” boiler operators, Sean Roemen, Jim Feldman, Tom Milander, Shane Ostwald, and you, should be commended for running such a tight ship at CVEC…GREAT JOB! The results of their being efficient and paying attention to detail has surely paid large dividends to CVEC in the form of good water quality, good condition of the cooling towers, and good internal boiler conditions during inspections. All of these items lend to equipment and asset protection, as well as process efficiency for CVEC, and have probably saved CVEC thousands of dollars over the past 6-12 months alone. In addition, I wanted to point out that the boiler house at CVEC is probably one of the cleanest I have seen at any ethanol producing facility…and I’ve seen a lot! It’s well lit, plumbing and tanks are well labeled, sample ports in good shape, and there’s no debris, pails, drums, spilled chemicals, or equipment lying all over the place creating potential safety hazards. A good clean boiler house provides a safer environment for us all to perform our jobs, CVEC employees and suppliers who are on site. Again, you and your boiler operator team should all be proud of the work you have done.
