EARTHBY MEGAN QUINN
The earth is the biggest of all the terrestrial planets.
The earth’s temperature, weather and atmosphere are just right to keep us alive.
Earth was the mother of the mountains , valleys , streams and all other land formations.
![Page 3: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
ASTEROID BELTBY CONOR BUCKLEY
Ida is a neat little asteroid about 36 miles wide. It has its own little moon called Dacty.
The asteroid belt is divided into an inner belt and outer belt.
The outer belt includes asteroids 250 million miles beyond the sun.

ASTEROID BELTBY QUINN MARTIN
ASTEROID BELT BY QUINN MARTIN
Asteroids are left over materials of the solar system.
26 very large asteroids have been discovered.
If all the asteroids were squashed together up into one planet it would be smaller than our moon.
![Page 5: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
SATURNBY PORTIA L.
Saturn is most well known for its rings.
They are very thin and could fit between two football posts.
Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune also have rings.
Saturn has 53 official moons.
![Page 6: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
SATURNBY PETER MCANDREWS
Saturn was the Roman god of agriculture. Saturn was named after him.
Saturn is the furthest plant from Earth that can be seen without the help of a telescope.
The rings are not solid but are made up of particles of ice, dust, and rocks.
![Page 7: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
EARTHBY LEAH KEITH
The Earth is the biggest of all the terrestrial plants.
Earth is covered with 70% water.
Scientist use what they know about Earth to guess what the other planets might be like.
![Page 8: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
JUPITERBY LINDSEY KOSTER
If you weigh 70 pounds on Earth on Jupiter you would weigh 185 pounds.
Jupiter is the largest planet by far in the solar system.
The Earth could fit inside Jupiter more than 1,000 times.
Jupiter has rings they only show when Jupiter passes the sun.
![Page 9: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
PLUTOBY LIAM DOYLE
Pluto has three moons. Pluto was the only
planet named by a kid. Because Pluto is so
small you would be very light if you visited.
![Page 10: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
MARSBY JOE FOSTER
If you weigh 74 pounds on Earth you would weigh about 27 pounds on Mars.
Mars orbit takes it just inside of the asteroid belt.
Mars has two moons their names are Deimo, and Phobo.
![Page 11: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
JUPITERBY AIDAN FIRMATURE
You can see four of Jupiter’ s moons with a pair of binoculars at night.
Jupiter is considered a gas giant because it does not have a solid surface.
Jupiter spins really fast; it takes 10 hours to go from night to day in Jupiter.
![Page 12: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
JUPITERBY NATALIE MCFADDEN
The Earth could fit inside Jupiter more than 1000 times.
Jupiter is considered a gas giant because it does not have a solid surface.
Jupiter is a very stormy planet.
![Page 13: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
MARSBY NICK THULL
Mars was named after the Roman god of war and agriculture.
Mars once had a lot of rivers and lakes, but now it doesn’t-only frozen water.
Mars is called the Red Planet because it has red dirt and rocks.
![Page 14: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
MARSBY RAIN EMMONS
Once Mars had rivers, steams, lakes and an ocean.
Mars has two moons and their names are Deimos and Phobos.
Mars has a volcano that is the biggest in the Solar Systems.
![Page 15: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
MERCURYBY ALEX BULLOCK
You would weigh 27 pounds if you weighed 70 pounds on Earth.
Mercury has wrinkles because the crust on Mercury is rocky.
You can see Mercury In the early morning or in the late after noon.
![Page 16: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
MERCURYBY ISAAC KENNEY
If you weigh 70 pounds on Earth you weigh 27pounds g on Mercury.
Mercury is called the morning star because it shines in the morning before the Sun.
Mercury orbits closest to the Sun and the fastest.
![Page 17: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
MERCURYBY MACY MOLLNER
In astronomy Mercury was the Roman version of the Greek god Hermes.
If you moved to Mercury you would not weigh as much as you do on Earth.
Mercury is also called the morning star.

NEPTUNEBY MARY BALTIMORE
Neptune was discovered by Johann Galle and Heinrich D’Arrest in 1846.
Neptune was named after the god of the water and sea.
In 2011 Neptune will complete its first orbit around the sun.
![Page 19: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
NEPTUNEBY SAGE MALEKI
If you weigh 70 pounds on earth then you would weigh 78 pounds on Neptune.
It takes 16 hours and 17 minutes to rotate.
In Neptune the atmosphere is a large white cloud that twirls around rather quickly.

SUNBY ANNA AMBROSE The sun was born in a
vast amount of gas and dust around five billion years ago.
Thermonuclear fusion is the process in which a star produces its own light. The sun does this.
The Romans called the sun Sol which means in English-Sun.
![Page 24: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
SUNGRACE ELLIS
The romans call “sun” sol.
The sun was born in a big cloud around 5 billion years ago.
The sun produces it’s own heat, light, and energy.
![Page 25: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
SUNBY KELLY KOZOL
The sun is so large that the earth could easily fit inside the sun a million times.
The sun creates a sort of wind known as the solar wind.
The sun can make you blind if you look at it too long.
![Page 26: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
URANUSBY ANNA THIBODEAU
Uranus has 27 moons,5 are big and the rest are small.
Uranus also has rings, but they don’t stretch out as far as Saturn.
Just like Jupiter and Saturn Uranus is made of gas but it’s a little different.
![Page 27: Solar system 2a 2011](https://reader030.vdocuments.site/reader030/viewer/2022033104/55d53e6fbb61eb39678b474f/html5/thumbnails/27.jpg)
