FeaturesThe SN120 Soil Moisture Hub allows you to remotely monitor soil moisture. With the Altrac web app you can view your soil moisture from your phone or computer.

The soil moisture probe is inserted into a hole dug with a soil auger (SN121 or SN122). It attaches to an Altrac Sensor Hub which also monitors up to two pressure switches. The Sensor Hub is connected to an Altrac Station which provides power and connectivity. The Altrac Sensor Station updates every 15 minutes while connected to a power source. If a sensor value changes dramatically, the Station will update immediately.

5 years of connectivity costs are included in the cost of the soil moisture sensor. This includes all associated cellular data costs and data storage costs.

ComponentsThe Altrac Pump Station comes with (a) soil moisture probe (b) sensor hub and (c) pressure switch.

A: Altrac supports EnviroPro and Sentek soil moisture sensors. Measures soil moisture and soil temperature at 10cm depth intervals. Probe may be upgraded to measure EC (salinity) at any time a!er initial purchase or installation, via an upgrade key.

B: All sensors are wired directly into the Sensor Hub. The Hub connects to the Altrac Station through the data line.

C: The pressure sensor attaches to your irrigation line. It is helpful to determine when your irrigation system is operating normally. This sensor is optional but highly recommended.

Sensor Hub Mounting HardwareThe SN120 comes with mounting hardware which includes hose clamps, brackets, and screws.

Assemble the mounting hardware as shown in the photos. You will need to open the hose clamps in order to align the brackets.

Probe InstallationThe soil moisture probe (SN120) must be inserted into a hole drilled by an auger (SN121, SN122).

Assemble the auger by screwing the handle into the appropriate length auger. The additional rods are to help remove the auger a!er drilling is completed.

Find a drill sight on the South-West side of a representative plant. Clean away plant leaves and other organic matter.

Auger hole to a depth that allows probe to sit 1.5” underneath the top of the soil. The probe should easily slide up and down the hole. You can add a bit of water to lubricate the probe.

Probe Installation

Using a bucket and trowel, mix dirt from the drill site and water to make a slurry with the consistency of pancake batter. Once thoroughly mixed, pour the slurry into the hole.

D

Insert the probe and push it all the way into the hole. Scrape away any extra slurry that comes out of hole.

E

F Push all the way down until the top of the probe is ~1.5” below soil level. Place fresh dirt on top of the probe to help prevent cracking of the slurry.

Probe Installation

Run the 3 conductor wire from the soil moisture probe to the sensor hub. Insert the 3 wires through the cable gland and connect to ‘SDI Sensor’ ports.

Pressure SwitchThe pressure switch (SN200) is placed onto the irrigation line and senses when water is flowing through the drip tubing. You can install up to two pressure switches per Sensor Hub.

Cut drip tubing and add a T with a 1/4” NPT threaded hole.

Screw on the pressure switch. You can use teflon tape to eliminate small leaks.

A

Use waterproof connectors to splice wires together.

Connect the red wire to ‘Pressure Sensor +’ and black wire to ‘Pressure Sensor -’ port in the Sensor Hub.

Sensor Hub Control LineThe control line runs from the altrac station to the sensor hub. We recommend 18AWG, stranded, twisted pair, shielded wire.

Connect the 6-pin wiring pigtail to the accessory port on the Altrac station. If you have a fuel sensor, reattach the fuel sensor to the opposite side of the wiring pigtail.

Crimp 4 conductor wire onto the pigtail and run the wire to the sensor hub.

A

Insert wires through the cable gland holes and connect via the ‘Station’ ports.
