Step 1: Obtaining Access to the Oracle, MIS WorkGroup,and Key Servers

You will first need to obtain access to a number of servers:1. Egret.doit.wisc.edu contains the Accounting Data Warehouse data.2. Dash - MIS WorkGroup Server 1 contains the software installers.3. MIS KeyServer keeps track of the number of BrioQuery licenses being simultaneously

used.

To obtain access to these servers, you need to send email to the server administrator, Shad Aumann([email protected]) and the Oracle manager, Cathy Gilligan([email protected]). In the email, include your:

1. Name2. Initials3. 3270 logon, if you have one. Please indicate if you do not have one.4. Department5. Office Number & Building6. E-mail Address

You will receive emails from them containing your user names and passwords to access the three servers.

Step 2: Installing Oracle SQL*NetRequirements: 68040 processor with 8 MB of physical memory

or PowerPC-Based Macintosh with 16 MB of memory and virtual memory on.2.2 MB of disk space

NOTE: If you already have Oracle SQL*Net Version 2 installed, skip steps 2 and 3. You will haveOracle SQL*Net if you have previously installed Oracle for Infoaccess or the Accounting Data Warehouse.If you have Oracle from other sources, it is version 2 if the oracle folder contains the network:admin folderwith the file tnsnames.ora.

Connect to the MIS WorkGroup Server to Access Med School InstallerProgram

• Under the Apple open Chooser.

• Click on the AppleShare icon.

• Locate the Biostat zone and click on it.

• Select Dash - MIS WorkGroupServer 1 from the file.

• Click on OK.

• Enter the Name and Password whichhave been assigned to you for usewith the MIS WorkGroup Server.

• Click on OK.

Install SQL*Net on Your Machine

• Double click on the Public volumename.

Afterwards, you should have a Publicicon on your desktop.

• Double-click on the Public icon onyour desktop.

• Double Click on the Applicationsfolder within Public.

• Double click on the MedicalSchool Installer icon.

You should see a window like the one atthe right.

• Click on Continue.

You should see a window like the one atthe right.

• Click on Install.

• Place the Accounting Data Warehousefolder where you want it to be installed.

• Then click Install.

It will take a minute or two for OracleSQL*Net to install. You will get a messageindicating that Installation was successful.

• Click on Quit.

• Close windows to clean up your desktop.

• Drag public icon to trash.

Comments: Oracle SQL*Net is now installed, but needs to be configured. The next step will be toconfigure your Oracle software.

Step 3: Configuring Oracle SQL*NetYou will need to run the “Set Oracle Home” Application.

• Double click on the UW Medical AccountingData Warehouse Folder.

• If you do not see anything in this folder, click onthe resize button (the upper right hand corner ofthe window), and then click on the resize buttonagain.

This screen on the right should display.

• Double-click on the Oracle folder.

• Double-click on the Applications folder.

• Double-click on the Set Oracle Homeapplication.

• If you have never set an Oracle Home folder, youwill see the warning to the right. Click OK.

• Use the next dialogue box to find and set theOracle Home Folder. The folder listed bydefault is usually incorrect. Before you clickthe set Home button, select your OracleFolder from the pull-down menu. The oraclefolder should contain Applications, Database,Drivers, and Network, as at the right.

• Click Set Home.

• Close windows to clean up your desktop.

Comments: Oracle Installation is now complete. Complete the following steps to install Brio Query.

Step 4: Installing The KeyAccess Extension

Connect to the MIS WorkGroup Server to copy the KeyAccess Extension toyour Macintosh

• Under the Apple Menu, open Chooser.

• Click on the AppleShare icon.

• Locate the Biostat zone and click on it.

• Select Dash - MIS WorkGroupServer 1 from the file server menu.

• Click on OK.

• Logon with:

Name: KeyServerPassword: key

• Click on OK.

• Select the volume “KeyServerFiles”.

• Click on OK.

• Afterwards, you should have a“KeyServer Files” icon on yourdesktop.

Install the Key Server Extension on your Macintosh

• Double-click upon the “KeyServerFiles” icon on your desktop to openup the window seen on the right.

• Drag the KeyAccess icon onto yourSystem Folder.

A dialog will appear asking if you wouldlike to store KeyAccess in yourExtensions folder.

• Click on OK.

• Close windows to clean up yourdesktop.

You will need to Restart your Macintosh before the KeyAccessextension can be used.

• In the Finder, pull down the Special menu and selectRestart.

Comments: You now have the KeyAccess software necessary to connect to the MIS KeyServer. Thenext step will be to configure your KeyAccess software.

Step 5: Configuring The KeyAccess ExtensionOnce your Macintosh has restarted, youwill need to configure the KeyAccessextension.

• Under the Apple Menu, open Chooser.

• Click on the KeyAccess icon in theupper left hand box.

• Locate the Biostat zone and click on it.

• Select MIS KeyServer from theKeyServer menu.

• Click on Log On.

• Enter the Name and Password whichhave been assigned to you for use withthe KeyServer.

• Click on the “Save Name andPassword” checkbox.

• Click on OK.

• Close windows to clean up yourdesktop.

Comments: You should now be logged onto the KeyServer and ready to use keyed applications. Thenext step will be to connect to the MIS WorkGroup Server to install the keyed version of the BrioQuerysoftware.

Step 6: Installing The Keyed Version of BrioQueryRequirements: 68030 processor or better

8 MB of memory PLUS whatever the Mac OS takes.15 MB of disk space for complete installation

NOTE: If you have a previous version of BrioQuery from Infoaccess or the Accounting DataWarehouse, FIRST do the following: Open the System:Preferences folder. Select the Brio Preferencesfolder, any documents starting with “BrioQry Preferences” and BrioQuery DAPref document. Drag theselected files to the trash.

Additionally, when you have completed the install, you should delete old versions of BrioQuery, whetheryou got them from Infoaccess or the Accounting Data Warehouse. Be careful not to delete any queriesyou saved in your old BrioQuery folder.

Connect to the MIS WorkGroup Server to Access the BrioQueryInstallation Program

• Under the Apple open Chooser.

• Click on the AppleShare icon.

• Locate the Biostat zone and click on it.

• Select Dash - MIS WorkGroupServer 1 from the file.

• Click on OK.

• Enter the Name and Password which havebeen assigned to you for use with the MISWorkGroup Server.

• Click on OK.

• Double click on the “Public” volume name.

Afterwards, you should have a “Public” icon onyour desktop.

Install Brioquery on Your Macintosh

• Double-click on the Public icon on your desktop.

• Double Click on the Applications folder withinPublic.

• Double Click on the BrioQuery 4.0 (Keyed) folderwithin Applications.

• Double click on the Install BrioQuery 4.0 icon

You should see a window like the one at theright.

• Click on Continue.

• If you have a 680x0 Mac or a Power Mac,click on BrioQuery 4.0 Full Install.

• Click on the Install button

DO NOT use the BrioQuery 4.0 forPowerMac Full install!! We are stillhaving problems with it.

• Place the BrioQuery™ 4.0 folder where youwant it to be installed.

• Then click Install.

It will take a minute or two for BrioQuery™ 4.0to install. You will get this message.

• Click on Quit.

You will get this message indicatingthat you will have installed a keyedprogram.

• Since you already have access to theMIS KeyServer, simply click onOK.

• Close windows.

• Note: Please log off of the MIS WorkGroup Server by dragging the “Public” icon to the Trash.

Comments: BrioQuery is now installed, but needs to be configured. The next step will be toconfigure your BrioQuery software.

Step 7: Configuring BrioQuery

Set up BrioQuery’s Connections with the Accounting Data WarehouseServer “Egret”

Now, you will need to run BrioQuery to do someadditional setup.

• Double click on the BrioQuery™ 4.0 icon.

You will be asked for a serial number. Enter asindicated:

You will need to set up your connections with theserver.

• First, select Table Catalog under DataModel:

You will get one of the two screens on the right.

• Click on Create.

• Set up the Server Chooser windows as below.

• Click on OK.

• Enter your signon and the host name.

• Click on OK.

• Click OK on the nextwindow:

• On the following screen, enter Egret and clickon Save to save the “open catalog” setup.

• We recommend clicking “Yes” on the next box:

You will then be signed on to Egret.

• Close this document by clicking in the upper lefthand corner.

• Click on Discard.

Set up BrioQuery’s Connections with the DoIT’s Infoaccess Server

You will need to purchase InfoAccess from DoIT in order to obtain a logon to their server. Do not installtheir software, as it would be mostly redundant with the Accounting Data Warehouse software.

• Select New under the File menu.

• Select DataModel menu, and then SelectOpen Catalog.

• Click on Create.

• Set up the Server Chooser window asindicated below.

• Click on OK.

• Enter your Infoaccess username and password,along with host ID infoaccess:

• Click on OK.

• Enter infoaccess in the box and click Save.

The fact you are signed onto Infoaccess will beindicated by the absence of a red X through thebarbell at the lower-right corner of your screen:

• Close the document and discard changes.

Set Up BrioQuery’s Preferences

The following steps set the default formats for numbers. The number setting here is recommended, sinceaccounting data usually deals with dollars and cents. Yet it also will display numbers with up to fivedecimal places (hundred thousandths).

• Select the File menu, and then Preferences, and then DefaultFormats.

• Click on the Add button.

• Enter format #,##0.00###.Click OK.

• Click and hold on the pop-up menu for “Real”numbers.

• Select the item you justcreated, which will be thelast in the list.

Your window should now look like the window to the right.

• Click OK.

The following steps modify the default fonts for detail reports. Thesettings here are recommended. Of course, you may choose yourown fonts.

• Select the File menu, and then Preferences, and then DetailReport Fonts.

• Change Header1 and Footer1 to 14 point bold.Change Header2 and Footer2 to 12 point bold.(Although it is hard to see, the four bold keys aredepressed to the right.)

Comments: The keyed version of BrioQuery should now be configured.
