The Issues

Many participants felt isolated, alone, and

unable to seek company without resorting to

formal means

They wanted to know who else was in a

similar position

They wanted to communicate informally

They hated Computers and modern

technology

CWUAAT April 11th 2006 Guy Dewsbury

The design challenge

To build an informal communication

software that was simple to operate,

fun to use, was not scary

To build in the ability to show who was

active and ‘on-line’

To extract the XP components from

their carcass and redeploy simply

Some issues with design

What platform to use?

What hardware is suitable? What were the hardware requirements?

What do the participants what to experience from the tool?

How do they want to interact with it?

How can we make the product inclusive?

Person Centred Design

People first, last and inbetween

Is it better than other methods?

What are the limitations

How do you produce generic design?
