^ Mizzou trails in the all-time series against Auburn, 7-6. The two teams last met a year ago (April 14-16, 2017) for a three-game series in Auburn, Alabama. Mizzou stole one of three games over the No. 7 nationally ranked Tigers. Auburn’s last visit to Mid- Missouri was three years ago (March 27-29, 2015), as it took two of three matchups against Mizzou. ^ The Tigers made quick work of Omaha on Wednesday (April 11) with a 6-0 shutout victory inside Mizzou Softball Stadium. Lauren Rice stole the show, allowing only one hit in the circle and retiring 18 consecutive batters to conclude the game. Mizzou’s offense produced a balanced attack at the plate, as seven individuals tallied a hit. Rylee Pierce led the way with her fifth three-hit performance this year. ^ Mizzou enters this week’s action fresh off another impressive win, as it produced a 5-1 victory last Saturday (April 7) at No. 5 Georgia. The Tigers saw production up and down the lineup, highlighted by three multi-hit performances and four players with an RBI. ^ In the circle, Rice was magnificent as she limited the Bulldogs to only one run in a complete game effort. It marked Rice’s team- leading third victory in Southeastern Conference play this year with two of them coming against nationally ranked foes (first triumph coming against No. 13 LSU) / March 31). ^ While the Tigers dropped two of three to the Bulldogs this past weekend, they consistently competed to the very end against one of the nation’s premier teams. In Friday’s series opener, Mizzou possessed a 6-5 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. In Sunday’s series finale, the very same bottom of the sixth saw the matchup squared up at two apiece. ^ Offense certainly wasn’t an issue for Mizzou in Athens over its three-day visit, as the Tiger bats collectively hit .322 (28-for-87) with 13 runs scored, six doubles, three home runs, 13 RBI and a perfect 10 for 10 in stolen bases. ^ Individually, Brooke Wilmes (.625), Regan Nash (.571) and Pierce (.545) recorded gaudy numbers at the plate. Pierce and Wilmes each hit safely in all three games against Georgia, while the trio collectively tallied four multi-hit efforts. ^ Mizzou checked-in at No. 23 in this week’s NCAA RPI rankings, falling one spot from the previous week. The Tigers still possess an excellent resume, highlighted by four wins over current top 25 RPI foes and 10 victories against current top 50 RPI opponents. NOTES/ QUICK FACTS

QUICK FACTS

^ For the third time this season (March 19 and 26, April 9), Mizzou checked-in at No. 23 overall in the latest NCAA Softball RPI rankings.

^ The Tigers’ top 25 placement is largely due to possessing the nation’s No. 2 ranked strength of schedule. Through 42 games played this season, Mizzou has squared off against 19 top 25 RPI teams and 27 matchups against top 50 RPI opponents. The Tigers’ 19 matchups against top 25 RPI opponents ranks first in the NCAA.

^ Mizzou’s top RPI victories thus far are against No. 5 Georgia (April 7), No. 13 LSU (March 31), No. 19 Mississippi State (March 17) and No. 21 Arkansas (March 24).

^ The Tigers have regularly competed well versus the nation’s elite, including close contests against No. 2 Oregon, No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Georgia, No. 10 Tennessee, No. 11 Arizona, No. 13 LSU and No. 17 Oregon State.

^ To no one’s surprise, the deeply talented Southeastern Conference holds the nation’s top conference RPI. All 13 SEC programs are ranked top 35 RPI in the country, including four top 10 teams and 10 top 20 clubs.

MIZZOU SITS AT #23 IN LATEST NCAA RPI RANKINGS

^ This past Saturday (March 24) at Arkansas, freshman RHP Lauren Rice was sensational in a 3-0 victory for the Tigers. She tossed her second complete game win this season on only 78 pitches.

^ The Morrison, Illinois, native’s drop ball was extremely effective against the Razorbacks’ lineup, leading to 15 ground ball outs.

^ It marked Rice’s second complete game victory this year, as she also went the distance in a Mizzou run-rule victory against Creighton (March 4).

^ Rice’s 7.0 IP against the Razorbacks also established a new career-high, while she surrendered zero earned runs for the third time this season.

^ Collectively, the Tigers earned their sixth shutout victory of the season and their first in SEC play. The last time Mizzou produced an SEC shutout triumph was a year ago against the same Arkansas squad (April 7, 2017).

^ Rice’s dominant performance on the road at Arkansas continues to impress, as the Razorbacks recently completed a three-game sweep over No. 18 Mississippi State (March 30 - April 1) and moved into the top 25 national rankings themselves on April 3.

RICE IS LIGHTS OUT IN VICTORY AT ARKANSAS

^ Mizzou supplied the black and gold faithful with late inning heroics on Saturday, March 31, as junior Regan Nash’s walk-off hit with two outs in the seventh secured a 5-4 series finale victory over No. 13 LSU.

^ LSU starting pitcher Carley Hoover cruised through the first six innings of play at Mizzou Softball Stadium, limiting the host Tigers to only one run on two hits. Momentum changed for Mizzou in its final at bat however, as Hoover hit a batter and walked three-straight to set up the eventual walk-off single by Nash.

^ Rylee Pierce opened the bottom of the seventh with a 1-3 ground out. After a hit by pitch, Hoover walked three consecutive Mizzou batters, including pinch hitter Paige Bange working a crucial full count RBI free pass to cut the deficit to 4-2. Following a Cayla Kessinger pop out for the second out of the frame, Nash came to the plate and ripped a single to left field, scoring two easily. An LSU error in left field on the play allowed Gabby Garrison to ultimately score the fifth and deciding run.

^ The series finale heroics marked Mizzou’s first walk-off win this year since March 4 against Creighton. That game was decided in the sixth inning, as the Tigers secured an 8-0 run-rule victory on a two RBI single by Rylee Pierce.

^ Mizzou’s last “true” walk-off triumph was March 3 against Southeastern Louisiana, as Kolby Romaine launched a two-run home run with the score tied at four apiece in the eighth inning.

NASH’S WALK-OFF SECURES COMEBACK WIN VS. #13 LSU

^ Mizzou bounced back after a heartbreaking loss Friday (April 6) in the series opener at No. 5 Georgia, with a 5-1 victory over the Bulldogs Saturday (April 7) evening. The Tigers saw production up and down the lineup, highlighted by three multi-hit performances (Cayla Kessinger, Rylee Pierce & Regan Nash) and four players with an RBI (Kessinger, Nash, Callie Martin & Brooke Wilmes).

^ In the circle, Lauren Rice was magnificent as she limited the Bulldogs to only one run in a complete game effort. Rice leads the Tigers with three wins in Southeastern Conference matchups this season, highlighted by nationally ranked victories against the aforementioned Bulldogs and on March 31 vs. No. 13 LSU.

^ Mizzou’s 12 hits on offense matched its season-high output in an SEC game this year, joining its outburst on March 17 against No. 20 Mississippi State.

BALANCED OFFENSE, RICE’S GEM LEADS MIZZOU PAST #5 GEORGIA

^ Junior OF Regan Nash was named to the 2018 Preseason All-Southeastern Conference Team on Jan. 24. ^ Nash was one of 17 honorees on this year’s list, as voted upon by the SEC head coaches earlier this winter. She

was only one of six outfielders to garner preseason recognition. ^ The honor marked Nash’s first career Preseason All-SEC Team accolade. She now joins former All-American

Taylor Gadbois (2015) and Tori Finucane (2015) as all-time Tigers to receive preseason recognition by the SEC office.

^ Nash is poised for another big season in 2018, following a standout 2017 sophomore campaign. The speedy Tiger outfielder hit .340 with 49 H, 28 R, 17 SB and a .424 OBP last year, en route to Second Team All-SEC honors.

NASH NAMED 2018 PRESEASON ALL-SEC

^ Sophomore RF Cayla Kessinger (Saugus, Calif.) concluded her 2017 first-year campaign as one of the Tigers’ hottest hitters. In fact, she hit safely in her final 10 games a year ago with two multi-hit games and five doubles.

^ The lefty-swinging Tiger carried that momentum into the team’s 2018 season-opening stretch at the Kajikawa Classic (Feb. 9-11). Over five games played, Kessinger hit .400 with three runs, one double and two RBI.

^ Kessinger hit safely in her opening four games in Tempe, Ariz., extending her hitting streak to 14 consecutive games dating back to the conclusion of the 2017 campaign. Her good fortunes unfortunately ran out with an 0-for-2 performance against Oregon State in the Tigers’ Kajikawa Classic finale.

^ Overall, Kessinger’s 14-game hitting streak ranked T-7th longest in program history. Over that impressive stretch, she totaled four multi-hit games with six doubles and four RBI.

KESSINGER CRACKS RECORD BOOK WITH 14-GAME HITTING STREAK

^ Redshirt junior 3B Amanda Sanchez (West Covina, California) returned to the Tigers lineup at the Kajikawa Classic (Feb. 9-11) after missing almost all of the 2017 season due to injury. Coach Fogue was clearly happy to see her powerful bat back in action, as she posted a team-leading seven hits and two doubles.

^ Sanchez struck quickly in Mizzou’s true season-opening doubleheader (Feb. 9) with back to back three-hit performances against UTEP and CSUN. It marked her 40th and 41st career multi-hit games at Mizzou.

^ At the Michele Smith Invitational (Feb. 16-18), the Tiger third baseman was virtually unstoppable at the plate. She hit .579 (11-for-19) with seven runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and five RBI. Additionally, she posted an incredible 1.053 SLG% and .625 OBP (1.678 OPS).

^ At the Mary Nutter Classic (Feb. 22-25), Sanchez once again delivered video game statistics with a .556 (10-for-18) average, three runs scored, two home runs and six RBIs. She recorded multi-hit efforts in four of six games played, including her fourth three-hit performance on the young season.

^ At the Mizzou Tournament (March 2-4), Sanchez received the “Barry Bonds treatment” at the plate and was routinely pitched around. Overall, the Tiger third baseman was walked an incredible 10 times (nearly half her plate appearances). She showed incredible focus and ability in her at bats when she was pitched to, hitting .636 (7-for-11) with eight runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and seven RBI.

^ Entering this week’s action (April 9-15), Sanchez ranks top 10 in the SEC in OBP (.549 // 2nd), SLG% (.741 // 4th), total bases (80 // 6th), home runs (9 // T-6th), AVG (.417 // 7th) and walks (23 // T-9th).

^ Nationally, the Tiger third baseman ranks 10th in OBP and top 75 in AVG and SLG%.

SANCHEZ PROVING TO BE NCAA & SEC ELITE HITTER

^ Mizzou ended its then six-game losing streak on Saturday, March 17, with a 7-3 victory over No. 20 Mississippi State. The Tigers’ triumph over the Bulldogs marked their first top 25 ranked win this season.

^ Madi Norman was fantastic in the circle, tossing a complete game and allowing only one earned run. It was her third complete game win in the circle this season, joining her previous accomplishments on Feb. 17 against Florida Atlantic and March 2 versus Southeastern Louisiana.

^ The Tiger offense broke through against Bulldogs pitching, led by Kolby Romaine and Rylee Pierce’s multi-hit efforts at the plate. Overall, Mizzou knocked out 12 hits, marking its most hits in an SEC game this season (nine total contests).

^ The all-time great Mizzou Softball 2016 Senior Class (Emily Crane, Sami Fagan and Taylor Gadbois) continued their professional careers this past summer in the National Pro Fastpitch League (NPF). The former Tigers All-Americans each participated in their second season in the NPF and once again shined on the field.

^ Crane was selected seventh overall in the 2016 NPF draft by the Scrap Yard Dawgs. She then moved to the Chicago Bandits prior to the 2017 season via trade.

^ Crane was a mainstay in Chicago’s lineup in 2017, posting a .295 average with five doubles, six home runs, 15 RBI and five stolen bases. Her strong campaign resulted in new NPF single-season career highs in average, doubles, home runs and RBI.

^ Fagan was selected fourth overall in the 2016 NPF draft by the Akron Racers. She hit .392 with 10 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and 39 RBI in her rookie campaign. It ultimately led to 2016 NPF Rookie of the Year and All-NPF (shortstop) accolades.

^ Fagan returned to Akron for 2017 second-year season, hitting .287 with 11 doubles, three home runs and 27 RBI.She ranked Top-10 in the NPF in doubles (third) and RBI (ninth).

^ Gadbois was selected 15th overall in the 2016 NPF draft by the Texas Charge. She showed the NPF her game-changing speed in her rookie campaign, hitting .331 with three doubles, one triple and 14 stolen bases. Following the season, Gadbois was named as an At-Large selection (outfield) in the 2016 All-NPF Team.

^ Gadbois excelled yet again in her second-year campaign, hitting .346 with 55 hits, two triples and 25 stolen bases. She led the league in stolen bases, while also ranking Top-5 in hits (second) and average (fifth).

^ The breakout season led to 2017 Rally Spikes Award honors for most individual stolen bases in the NPF, while also being named to the 2017 All-NPF Team (outfield).

FORMER “TRICKY TRIO” ENJOY STANDOUT 2017 PRO SEASONS

^ Current Mizzou freshmen, Kendyll Bailey and Callie Martin, were named 2017 Premier Girls Fastpitch All-Americans, announced Wednesday, June 7, by the organization’s office.

^ The two Tigers were two of 47 total PGF All-American honorees this season. Bailey & Martin will each competed in the PGF High School All-American Game on July 28, 2017, in Irvine, Calif.

^ This year’s PGF All-American Game showcased some of the elite high school fastpitch softball players in the nation.

^ Bailey was rated as the nation’s No. 11 overall prospect in FloSoftball’s final Class of 2017 “Hot 100” players list. She was a two-time Missouri All-State selection, three-time Missouri All-Region honoree and four-time Missouri All-Conference pick.

^ Martin was also highly regarded in FloSoftball’s final Hot 100 rankings, as she was tabbed as its No. 45 overall prospect in the country. The Raymore, Mo., native was named 2016 Missouri First Team All-State after recording a .577 average, 13 home runs, 40 RBI and 1.186 slugging percentage.

BAILEY & MARTIN NAMED 2017 PGF ALL-AMERICANS

NOTES/ STANDINGS

^ On a beautiful afternoon (Oct. 14) in Columbia, Mo., the Mizzou Softball team squared off with Mizzou Baseball in a five-inning fast-pitch softball game.

^ The Fight Hunger Charity Game lived up to its billing, as fans made food donations that benefited the Tiger Pantry. Mizzou Athletics officials estimated that well over 300 pounds of food were donated. The laid-back afternoon turned out to be a huge success as both teams had plenty of praise for the event.

Over the 44 years of its existence, Mizzou Softball has proven itself as a Women’s College World Series-level program. Beginning in 2017, the Tigers have a facility that matches the excellence of the team.

The $17.5 million Mizzou Softball Stadium is the latest jewel within the Mizzou Athletics Sports Park and has ample amenities for fans and players alike. Featuring over 700 chairback seats – nearly 10 times the total of its predecessor, University Field – along with bleachers and a spacious outfield berm, the stadium can easily accommodate 2,500 fans.

Fans entering the stadium are greeted by a beautiful brick façade, complemented by a Centria paneling system. The stadium offers beautiful views whether sitting in the infield seating, or atop the berm area. LED lit ‘Mizzou Tigers’ signage hangs from the press level, and an LED-lit lantern piece sets atop the facility’s main elevator.

A “full-view” concourse allows fans to not miss a pitch while visiting one of two concession stands or the on-site Tiger Team Store. The concourse is located beneath a spacious elevated press box, which feaures dedicated broadcast and radio booths, space for working press and game management, and a Club Suite.Fans will also appreciate the brand-new video board; with over 300 square feet of LED display, it is much larger than the previous board at University Field.

The new field’s dimensions are 200 feet at the foul lines and 220 feet at center field. A 10-foot, crushed-brick warning track separates the six-foot wall from an expansive outfield of lush Kentucky Bluegrass, carefully tended by Jerry Cummings and the Mizzou Sports Turf staff. The DuraEdge infield lays atop a drainage system built to USGA specs.

Both teams are protected from the elements by bench-heated dugouts, and have access to bullpens down their respective foul lines, and batting cages underneath the stands. In addition, six dedicated TV-camera wells allow for easy production of SEC Network telecasts.

The Tigers’ home-team suite is located directly behind the third-base dugout, and includes, besides 32 lockers, amenities such as a mud room, equipment-storage area and coaches meeting room.

One of the premier collegiate softball events comes to Mizzou Softball Stadium in 2018, as the Tigers will host the annual Southeastern Conference Tournament from May 8-12. It will mark Mizzou’s first time ever hosting the SEC Tournament and only the second conference tournament ever to be held in Columbia, Mo. (1980 Big Eight Tournament). Big events are nothing new for the Tigers program however, as Mizzou has served as the host for nine NCAA Regionals and four NCAA Super Regionals since 2005.
