Marriage in Mesopotamia

• Marriage in Mesopotamia was quite different then it is here. In Mesopotamia the Dad decided on who the girl was going to marry and the family limit of guests was quite restricted at the weddings. So the Dad would walk his daughter down the isle and the Mother would walk her son down the isle but the daughter didn’t really know who she’s about to marry until the couple is married.

Marriage in the Viking Days

• Marriage in the Viking days was similar to what we have now. The couples wedding had to take place within a timeline. Usually the wedding ceremony would take place at the bride's home. A Viking wedding went on much longer than a traditional Christian ceremony, the festivities were very much inclusive of alcohol and blessing. Within the ceremony many rituals were performed to ensure and to remove any evil spirits or intentions.
