    Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery

    Overview

    Each year, the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery cares for patients whorequire virtually every type of heart surgery including heart bypass surgery.Surgeons work with the newest surgical techniques, equipment and devices.Since commissioning in mid 2004, the Cardiothoracic Surgery Departmenthas performed more than 1,000 cardiac surgeries with a mortality rate of lessthan 1% that astonishingly enviable. The depth and breadth of experience indealing a wide variety of cases allows surgeons to handle complexoperations with success rates at par with the renowned cardiac hospitals of

    the western world. The extraordinary expertise of doing beating heartsurgery that offers the patients faster post-operative recovery and extract lessof a toll on their systems have made Labaid Cardiac Hospital a cherisheddestination for the cardiac patients. The Department is supported by a well-equipped third generation Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Critical Care Unitsand Intensive Care Units.

    balloon pump and other life saving devices.

    e. 14 bed ICU: The facilities are equipped with latest radio-monitoringsystem with facilities for on-the-spot blood gas analysis and othertechnical and / or artificial life support system to record and measuremedical parameters of critically ill patients. A team of experiencedcardiac surgeons, anesthetists and well-trained nurses takes the postoperative surgical care of the patients round the clock. This ward is a
