Masters in Natural Resource Management and Sustainable Development [Masters in NRM-S.D] The postgraduate course Masters in Natural Resource Management & Sustainable Development (Masters in NRM &SD) started in the academic year 2017-18. This course is approved and recognized by Savitribai Phule Pune University. This course is exclusively designed by Social Centre; Ahmednagar a pioneering NGOs in watershed management programmes. The ‘Ridge to valley’ model of watershed management has adopted by the Government of India and NABARD as a national watershed programme and now it is adopted by the all the states In India. To create professionally trained personnel to provide leadership to anchor a responsibility towards mitigating various challenges of the current crises in sectors like ecology, climate change, environment and sustainable development goals etc. The course promises hands on training and building multiple professional skills throughout the course completion. Those are like analytical, critical things, action and participatory community-based research skills, professional writing and communication skills, Digital skills while application of soft wares of GIS and Remote sensing etc. Resource’s fullness in innovations and finding alternatives to many challenges is inbuilt competencies get developed as students of this course completes the course. The ethos this Post graduate learning with special reference to management of Natural Resource sustainably for present and upcoming generations. Present environmental challenges and Climate change challenges need wise response to mitigate. The course holds promises like- Transferring laboratory tested knowledge on Natural Resource Management for

extension and theorization of it at university level education. Create/ Train a management level human resource to take up leadership in enhancing

the response towards sustainable use and management of Natural Resources justly, in various Agencies : NGO/Government/ National/ International Development Agencies

Ability to manage the projects with professionally and duly trained capacities, having valid knowledge for the practice of the same.

Fill up a present missing gap of qualified human resources to work in the field of sustainable development with special reference towards management of Natural Resource in the country.

Professional competency towards consultancy, research and technologies applications to resolve the development crises.

This course will directly and indirectly contribute in achieving the 17 Universal Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

This Professional course will enhance professional skills and theoretical knowledge required to serve the field of environmental protection, disaster prevention, climate change, mitigation and adaptation, and water management / watersheds and other ancillary natural resource management

Eligibility:

Any of the disciplines’ graduate students can take the admission – Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Agriculture, Medical, Computer science etc. with 55% at graduate level marks.

Academic Calendar –Total - 4 Semesters of 2Accademic years

Academic year – July to May

Each Batch consists of -30 students each academic year

Major features: - 1) This course focuses on 40% on practical work on job skills and the remaining 60%

is on theoretical Knowledge of ancillary subjects. 2) The course includes multiple organizational visits to Government and Non-

governmental institutions as well as Industries etc. Therefore, reality based knowledge by witnessing actual experience make internalization of the learning and concepts more imbibed in learners capacities.

3) Emphasis is on building professional skills through participation in experts’ guest faculties Seminar /Workshops/Presentations/Conferences, etc.

4) Interdisciplinary courses are evolved to develop multifaceted wisdom on functional administrative and managerial skills.

5) This course is a Multidisciplinary/ Interdisciplinary course hence various faculties from concerned disciplines teaches the course. This develops universal understanding of interface and interdisciplinary connections of the subject’s students study.

6) Currently this course is of 64 Credits, 16 compulsory subjects of 4 credits each. Along with compulsory courses 4 Technical skill development courses are taught of 4 credits each.

7) Teaching Methodology of the courses includes lectures, presentation, discussions, field/institutional exposures visits, experiential learning opportunities, lab works ,projects, group assignments etc.

8) Educational facilities such as library, computer lab, GIS lab, Water and soil testing lab, Wi-Fi are available.

9) Hostel facilities are available. 10) Internship is inbuilt feature to build the confidence of the learner to be confidant

to face job markets demands.

1 RESERVATION

1. SC and ST Candidates: As per GOl requirements, 15% and 7.5% seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates, respectively, in all the programmes.

2. Persons with Disability: Three per cent seats are reserved in all the Master's Degree Programmes for PWD of which 1% each is reserved for (a) Low Vision/Blindness, (b) Hearing Impairment, and (c) Locomotor Disability/Cerebral Palsy.

3. Kashmiri Migrants: One per cent seats are reserved in each of the programmes. 4. Govt. of India directives will be followed for Other Backward Classes (OBC)

candidates, as applicable.

2 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

1. Students holding passports issued by foreign countries, including people of Indian origin who have acquired the nationality of foreign countries, are included as foreign students.

2. Non-Resident Indians (NRI): Only those Non Resident Indian (NRIS) students who have studied and passed the qualifying examinations from schools or colleges in foreign countries will be included as international students. This will include the students studying in the schools or colleges situated in foreign countries even if affiliated to the Boards of Secondary Education or Universities located in India, but will not include students studying in those schools or colleges (situated in India) and affiliated to the Board of Secondary Education or Universities located in foreign countries. Students passing the qualifying examinations from Boards or Universities located in foreign countries as external students and dependants of NRI studying in India will not be included as international students. Once a student is given the status of an International student, his/her entry level status will be maintained throughout his/her education in India.

3. International students have a maximum of 15% supernumerary seats in all the programmes.

4. International students should fulfill the basic qualifications laid down for admission to the Master's Degree Programmes of the Institute. They should produce the transcript from their University as proof of eligibility.

5. International students should write a letter of intent of at least 500 words and not exceeding 1000 words, stating their interest in the programme for which they are applying for.

6. International students should also write an essay in English on any topic selected by the Institute, of not more than 1000 words, which will be evaluated.

7. International students should give two references one of whom should be a professor who taught them at the under-graduate level. The referees should provide information regarding the candidate's academic interests, character, and suitability for the programme in a sealed envelope. This information should accompany the application.

8. International students can be interviewed over phone and they will be required to bear the cost of telephone.

9. After the telephonic interview, if the student is found suitable and selected for the programme, a provisional admission letter will be sent to the candidate to enable him/her to secure the appropriate visa to come to India and join the programme. He/She must obtain a student visa, which should indicate - (a) Name of the Institute, and (b) Period of study of the 2.5.9 Institute.

10. Fee will be 5 times of Tuition Fees and Other Fees.

ALUMNI – The Alumni is a formal forum to facilitate interaction between the ex-students and the college as well as amongst themselves. The Alumni plays a special role in the placement cell in procuring better job opportunities for the student.

General Conduct at XINRM 1. Students should strictly follow attendance rules of 75% class, dress code and code of conduct as per the directives of the Directors and respective coordinators of XINRM.

2. If any Student/s damages XINRM property, then the cost will be recovered from the concerned student/s.

3. Students should regularly follow the 'Notice Board’, class WhatsApp group and email instructions for all announcements of the institute .

4. Students are responsible towards the college for their conduct in the college premises. The chewing of tobacco, gutka or gum; consumption of alcohol, taking of drugs or smoking on the campus is forbidden.

5. Students should help maintain cleanliness in the classrooms and on the campus. No eatables are allowed in the classrooms, library, GIS lab, water and soil testing lab, and computer lab.

6. Students should enter and exit only through the main gate of the premises as per the administrational instructions.

7. Before or after classes, students should not be a hindrance to any flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic on the adjacent street. Refrain from waiting outside the gate on the road.

8. Parents / Guardians must keep themselves appraised of their child's/ward's progress throughout the year, It is obligatory that they attend the Open Day and the P.T.A. Meetings held during the year.

9 Outsiders are not allowed in the institute premises without permission.

Attendance Guidelines 1. A value-based and disciplined approach to education implies that the students be

present on the campus on a day-to-day basis, not only attending all the lectures but lso participating in extra and co-curricular activities and availing themselves of the facilities of the college.

2. Students who wish to take leave are required to obtain prior permission/sanction from the Principal/Class Teacher.

3. If any student proceeds on outdoor assignment during the college hours, he/she should obtain prior permission/sanction from the Director/Principal/Concern Teacher. 100 % attendance is appreciated, but 75 % attendance is required of every student as per Savitribai Phule Pune University guidelines.

4. Students who are absent for the reason of sickness, accident or any other reason should submit the necessary documents to the college within a week.

Library Rules 1. The Library is intended for the use of the students and faculty members of the college.

Students of other Institutions may be allowed only with the prior written permission of the Management/Principal for a limited period. However they shall, refer to the documents within the library only.

2. Books from the library are issued and returned between 2.00p.m. and 4.00p.m.on working days.

3. Students must return the books within SEVEN days or else a penalty of Rs. 5/- per day will be charged.

4. Certain documents are intended to be used only in the library. These include reference books, textbooks, rare books, current and bound periodicals etc. These are issued against Identity Card only for the purpose of reading in the Reading Hall.

5. No notes or marks of any kind should be made on library books.

6. If the book is lost, the borrower should report to the Librarian in writing.

7. The borrower has to replace the book or is liable to pay the cost of the book and the prescribed fine as well.

8. The borrower has to fill the borrower's card in his/her own handwriting.

9. Library 'Borrow Card' is non-transferable.

10. Any book may be recalled at any time by the Principal at 24 hours notice.

11. Silence shall be maintained in the Library. No cell phones allowed.

12. Utmost care shall be taken by all to keep the library clean.

13. The library rules and regulations shall be modified from time to time and shall be binding on all concerned. The students are expected to follow the Library Notice Board for updated instructions.

Computer/ Water and Soil Testing /GIS laboratories rule-

1. All the instruments must be used with utmost care by the students. If any damage will take place due to negligence, the things need to be replaced by the students or value of that need to be given to the lab administration and receipt collected on the payment.

2. Cyber Security rules need to be followed up with much awareness, passwords and pass codes will be individual’s responsibility: Once it's given to the students, they need

to keep it safe and not share it with anyone. No complaints of misuse and hacking shall be entertained by the administration of XINRM.

3. Do not forget to sign out or logout from the system, so misuse will be restricted. 4. Please manage safety of your personal work done on the system and keep it in your

5. Id card is a must on campus and while using the computer lab and GIS lab.
