WINTER FORECAST 2011-2012 Second Edition Welcome to Snow Day's much anticipated Winter Forecast updated(2nd edition). In my first winter forecast issuance for this winter season I issued a winter snowfall map, as well as the temperature map as well and many other images explaining my reasoning. This winter will be pretty active with a lot of snowfall as well as ice accumulations and brutal cold air. Below we will take a look at the latest climate model, the CFS, and how strong it is predicting this winters La Nina; As you can see this particular CFS model is predicting an EXTREMELY strong La Nina, In which I believe is way out of line to where it will actually be this winter. Currently the La Nina is at a -0.5 intensity and is spiraling downward, but the question is, how strong will it get before it starts moving its way back of the ladder? I believe this forecast from NASA and its climate prediction is correct and this La Nina will bottom out at a solid weak La Nina state maybe reaching moderate intensity La Nina for a short period of time; Other factors going into this forecast is the -NAO and its influence on our weather pattern. Certain patterns can take hold during a negative phase rather then a positive NAO. Let's once again take a look at simple easy to understand map regarding how a -NAO and +NAO can influence weather patterns; As you can see, the bottom right image illustrates on how a -NAO influences our weather pattern.
