Whether RBCU is present at Heritage Days, Penn Fest, local Chamber Events, school events or even volunteering at MOA for their recent Holiday for Heroes event – “That’s my credit union!” is always music to our ears.

The pride and enthusiasm we see and experience from RBCU members out in the community resonates loud and clear. It really sets the standard our management team and sta aspire to maintain.

My goal is to introduce products and services such as our new website, online banking, mobile banking, mobile check deposit, rewards Visa and instant issue debit cards that will continue RBCU member enthusiasm to shout out “Hey! That’s My Credit Union!”

We are constantly evaluating opportunities to improve member experience here at RBCU. Some of those enhancements may not appeal to every RBCU member, but we do feel having the right mix of products, services and delivery channels will position RBCU well moving into the future.

As you see your RBCU team working hard to make RBCU better and you are proud of those eorts we would love for you to tell family members, neighbors, co-workers or friends “Hey, RBCU is My Credit Union – You Should Join Too!”

Sincerely,Greg WorthenPresident

Ask Mark the Mortgage Guy

Welcome to the Team

What is the dierence between being pre-qualied and pre-approved for a home loan?

A mortgage pre-qualication is a rough estimate of approximately how much money a lender will loan to you. This is based on a somewhat high-level conversation we have about your income/debt, what you think your credit looks like and how much you plan to have for a down payment.

This will help us determine if you are likely to get approved when the time comes. As soon as you think you might want to purchase a home I recommend having a conversation with me so we can make sure your ducks are all in a row. Pre-approval on the other hand is what we do “when the time has come” to purchase a house.

Pre-approval is where we VERIFY that what you said your credit looks like is in fact what your credit reports show, we verify your income and then verify your down payment funds are available and liquid etc. This allows us with condence to say “You are Pre-Approved!”

What that means is if nothing really changes in your nancial picture – you are going to get a loan when the time comes. Being pre-approved is something realtors and sellers will want to see so they know you are a serious and well-qualied buyer. If you are going to be purchasing in the new year – get in touch with me and we will determine if you are both pre-qualied and pre-ap-proved for that new home!

When RBCU started this journey with Flags for Fort Snelling and Mall of America a few short months ago little did we know the powerful stories we would hear and new friends we would make along the way. The response from RBCU members, our vendors, area business-es and especially American Legion/VFW Posts across Minnesota has been amazing.

The eort was summed up when a mom attending the Holiday for Heroes event (see below) thanked RBCU for insuring her son’s headstone will have a ag placed on it for Memorial Day. A few tears were shed as she described the deep loss she still feels today from losing her son in Iraq. Yet, she was extremely happy knowing the sacrice of her son in a road side bombing shielded his unit from harm and kept them safe. The combination of pride and pain exhibited by that mom just serves to further motivate RBCU to accom-plish this mission. #traditionrestored.

Due to the generosity of the ag manufacturer, our fundraising eorts can continue all the way to Memorial Day. Just like the Veterans we are saluting, RBCU will not rest until the mission has been accomplished. Donations are accepted at all branch locations, via mail at the Lyndale Branch or online at www.agsforfortsnelling.com.

Other ways to support Flags for Fort Snelling would be to donate a silent auction item for the Flags for Fort Snelling silent auction at the Annual Meeting, bid on an item at the silent auction or volunteer to place or remove ags Memorial Weekend. More information about volunteering will be in the spring newsletter or posted on www.rbcu.org.

Holiday for Heroes RBCU employees were proud to volunteer at the “Holiday for Heroes” event at the Mall of America. The private event allowed Minnesota military families to celebrate the holiday season with their families and each other at Nickelodeon Universe. It was a fun, yet humbling day! Thank you for all who have served!

Plans are underway to improve RBCU member experience at two branch locations in 2018.

• Old Shakopee Road (OSR)– pending city approval, OSR will be completely reconstructed by November to address many concerns regarding the viability of the current structure. • Richeld – the primary investment in Richeld will be to improve the member experience in the lobby.

During the Old Shakopee Road project, sta members from that location will be temporarily reassigned and will make their triumphant return in November. We might have to invest in some RBCU hard hats for the summer and fall, but these improvements should position RBCU to better serve our members for a long time to come.
