These are photos of a snake and the hawk it brought down mid-afternoon on September 19, 2013.
The location is the SGL 110 PA game lands service road from Mountain Road, Tilden Township, Berks County, PA to the Auburn Overlook on the Appalachian Trail. I was about ½ mile up the mountain from the lower parking lot.
Apparently the hawk picked up the snake without biting its head off. The snake wrapped around the hawk and brought it down. Both probably survived the event. The last photo is the snake an hour or so later.
