Not just light sabers swinging into action

ANOTHER YEAR ALREADY PASSED BY, 2015 IS NEARLY DONE AND DUSTED AND AS WE COME TO A CLOSE I FELT THAT NOW WAS THE PERFECT TIME TO EXTEND MY GRATITUDE. Over the past ten years we have grown year on year at a remarkable rate. This is thanks to every single one of you who have gone that extra mile to help us achieve our goals.

We do recognise that it’s tough at times and you will all have faced the challenges and the growing pains that any successful business faces. However your attitude has been remarkable

and helped us throughout 2015. It’s been a tough year and we’ve all faced a variety of different challenges along the way. It is a testimony to your character and attitude that you have stayed in the fight and helped us get this far.

Moving into 2016 we are going to be introducing more changes to improve the working environment, further enhancing the opportunities for you to grow - this means bringing in new faces across ABC Depot, IBC

and Capital.

We want to support you in every way we can, so that you can continue to bring your best to the table every day. No doubt next year will bring fresh challenges, but with your continued effort there is every reason to believe that we can all share continued success.

We’ve already got new starters lined up for January who bring with them a wealth of experience and the desire to win which will also help support you moving forward.

So finally, on behalf of myself, Prax and Finbarr may I take this opportunity to wish you all Seasons Greetings and a very Happy New Year. Thank you for 2015 and here’s to a FANTASTIC 2016.

I HAVE MADE IT!!! 6 MONTHS TRIAL IS COMPLETE AND I HAVE GOT THE JOB! WELL NO ONE IS STOPPING ME AT THE DOOR SO I PRESUME ALL IS GOOD! JOKING APART IT HAS FLOWN PAST! SEEMS LIKE A LOT LONGER I HEAR YOU CRY!

Congrats to all the team for hitting the Siniat Plasterboard target! Some great results, right up to the last day it was close but we had confirmation, Finbarr then reached deep into his pockets for a celebration lunch NOM NOM! A good time was had by all.To coin a phrase “The end is Nigh” Here in the Capital office we are all getting ready for the Christmas break and looking forward to a positive new year. We have some very promising contracts for 2016 on the Sub Contractor side so hopefully this will provide a much needed injection of margin as the

merchant business is still a constant battle.Just time for me to say a big thank you to the whole team for 2015 including the guys in the warehouse/drivers and loading without each and every one of you we would not be able to operate!Short and sweet! No I am not talking about our leader I am referring to my entry in this months “Smashed It” as Peter is emailing me as I type waiting for this so just time for me to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

AS PASSIONATE ABOUT MARKETING AS HE IS ABOUT AMERICAN FOOTBALL AND MOTORSPORT - IBC’S NICK MITCHINSON JOINED US IN MARCH 2013.

With a degree in business studies and marketing, Nick’s role is to tie everything marketing related together, ensuring the communication is kept simple and clear for all to understand whilst driving initiatives such as last months successful ‘Movember’ campaign. He also gets involved with ABC and Capital stuff when required.

His hands will be very busy in the coming

months, juggling website back office implementation and builds alongside production of IBC’s Blue Book to name but a few.

Nick is currently focused on helping IBC deliver the all important IBC 3 year plan, which kicks into action the day we all return back to work next year.

Nick sights becoming a dad as his proudest moment to date and says aim is “To take IBC to the next level and continue to make waves within the industry while continuing to deliver value to the IBC membership”

AT THE START OF DECEMBER THE IBC AND CAPITAL TEAM SWUNG IN TO ACTION AT WATFORD’S TOP GOLF, TO FIND OUT WHO’S THE BIGGEST SWINGER OF THEM ALL.

It’s turns out Capital lynch pin Kevin Eastham smashed it, accumulating the most points overall, followed by IBC’s Nick Mitchinson who’s notched the longest drive of the night with our IT guru Ray Patel who scoring his gong for getting closest to the pin.

The evening wouldn’t have been complete though without IBC’s Camillia Barton being awarded the wooden spoon for the lowest score - if only they had driving ranges at hippy festivals she could get more practise in!

OI OI IT’S THE SILLY SEASON HERE - THAT MEANS A MUCH DESERVED REST, CHILLING OUT WITH YOUR MATES AND FAMILY, THEN MAYBE STUFFING YOUR CHOPS WITH A FEW MINCE PIES WASHED DOWN WITH YOUR FAVOURITE TIPPLE.

When we say rest, you’ll need it as next year we are setting our sights even higher, hoping to bring ABC to the next level and If there’s any Man Utd fans out there who fancy a winter break, I’ve heard you cant beat the Canaries this time of year.

As you can see from the front cover and everywhere else you look, Star Wars mania is full throttle right now, so I booked some Star Wars impersonators for a night in with the boys, but I’ve just had a phone call saying that their people carrier has broken down.

All I know is that they’re in a Galaxy far, far away.

That didn’t deter me though, My fiancée is a bit of a geek, so she was delighted when I suggested a Star Wars themed wedding.

We’ll save a fortune on her dress - she already looks like Chewbacca.

Anyway with the Christmas season upon us I had to start thinking about what I’m going to do for dinner, the lads in the pub told me it would be okay to keep a turkey in the freezer for up to three months. I put one in last night ready for Friday and when I checked this morning it was dead.

So I got stung on that one - reminds me of the time I was in a Moscow hotel and got stung by what I thought was a dodgy looking wasp. Although looking back now I suspect it was the cagey bee.
