International Montoro Resources’ focus is on its rare earth properties in an emerging exploration play in BC, as well as its Serpent River-El-liot Lake rare earth element—ura-

nium project in northern Ontario.International Montoro’s prospective

uranium properties in historic camps have considerable exploration potential, and the historic resources and showings are particularly attractive in a rising price envi-ronment. But it is the company’s rare earth elements properties that are commanding the most attention at the moment.

China currently produces over 95% of the world’s rare earth supply, and recently has moved to limit exports to retain supply for its own manufacturing needs as well as curtail illegal mining activities. The move has spurred on exploration for viable sup-ply of the increasingly important metals from a source outside of China.

The signifi-cance of Spectrum’s findings is now being recognized by several companies and the area is now developed into a new explo-ration camp, called the ‘Rocky Mountain Rare Metals Belt’.

The adjoining 11,109 ha orbit prop-erty further covers the main Cracking-stone Fault and some northeast trending extensions. Twelve uranium showings have been documented historically on the Or-bit claims, including two that had inclined shafts developed to a depth of some 50 feet along with some drifting along the veins. Saskatchewan Geological Society records show the uranium assay values on that work ranged from 0.1% to 3.43% U3O8.

Drilling on the Crackingstone property in 2008 showed uranium mineralization along the Boom Lake Fault extended over a strike distance of 1.8 km. hole C-14-08 returned the highest assay results with 3.0 m of 0.36% U3O8 (7.19 lbs/ton). hole C-09-08 had 10.6 m of 0.182% and C-10-08 intersected both 0.4 m assaying 0.256% and 2.0 m averaging 0.058%.

DynaMIC COnCLUSIOn

The demand for both uranium and rare earths is expected to grow in the years to come. nuclear power will gain importance as countries around the world move to di-minish their reliance on carbon-based fu-els. Meanwhile, rare earths are increasing-ly important in high-tech equipment and specialty steels and there are few viable sources lying outside China. It is exciting to see the Rocky Mountain Rare Metals Belt emerge as a potential economic source of rare metals and Montoro holds key ground in the camp.

also indicates that there is potential for a high-grade unconformity-hosted uranium deposit at depth.

Significant rare earth values, particu-larly yttrium, lanthanum, cerium, praseo-dymium and neodymium, accompany the uranium mineralization. Just west of the Serpent River project, Pele Mountain Re-sources is advancing its Eco uranium-REE project. Testing by Pele Mountain to date indicates good recoverability of REE’s, and similar results would be anticipated from the Serpent River mineralization.

Serpent River could potentially hold yet another deposit type—in a 2009 sum-mary of field work completed by the Ontar-io Geological Survey, a strong geophysical anomaly on the claims that was previously thought to be caused by an iron formation, was reconsidered. The new interpretation of the Pecors anomaly concludes that these lithologies may host contact style nickel-copper-PGE mineralization similar to that found to the west at Sudbury. Further anal-ysis of the geophysical data will help devel-op drill targets for an anticipated summer work program.

There is renewed interest in the El-liot Lake camp as surging uranium and rare earth prices make its large low grade reserves very attractive. anticipate new deals and partnerships to take place in the future.

Over 70 million pounds of U3O8 were produced from the Uranium City Mining District between 1953 and 1982. Uranium occurrences were discovered on Montoro’s 982 ha Crackingstone property in the early 1950s and historical data (not nI 43-101 compliant) reported assays of up to 12.57% U3O8. Onsite property reviews have con-firmed the previously discovered showings, as well as the presence of uranium miner-alization within fractures enclosed by three northeast striking shear zones.

further to the northwest, and it holds an open pit limestone quarry and appears to have the same REE-prospective lithology as the Wicheeda and Chuchinka proper-ties. an airborne geophysical survey will be conducted in the spring of 2011 in advance of a summer exploration program.

Preliminary testing of the Wicheeda mineralization indicates that it will eas-ily produce a marketable concentrate. That quality is the key requirement, and the key challenge, for rare-metal rich mineralization.

The Serpent River holdings in the Elliot Lake, Ontario camp were acquired for their known uranium resources and additional potential, but the property has become dou-bly interesting because of its potential for economic rare earths and because it holds a large magnetic anomaly that could indicate nickel-copper mineralization.

Rio algom and Denison Mines pro-duced more than 300 million pounds of U3O8 from the Elliot Lake camp between 1956 and 1996. Rio algom’s exploration work in the 1970s at Montoro’s Serpent River property focused on the Pecors and Whiskey Channels and their quartz-pebble conglomerate beds—the host formation for the known uranium mineralization in the camp. Based on limited drilling, Rio algom developed a historic resource (pre-dating nI 43-101 standards) for the Pecors East deposit of 20 million tons grading 0.037% U3O8, or 14.8 million pounds U3O8.

Montoro’s own drilling at Serpent River found uranium values in the miner-alized quartz pebble conglomerate consis-tent with the historic results, but they also intersected mineralized aplite dykes and sills below the conglomerate beds, as well as highly altered mineralized breccia at or near the unconformity between the arche-an basement rocks and overlying Protero-zoic sediments. analysis of the drill data
