PANEL DISCUSSION: MIXED REALITY IN MANUFACTURINGTuesday, March 27 | 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Mixed reality (MR), sometimes referred to as hybrid reality, is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time. Mixed reality is utilized in manufacturing from design engineering all the way through maintenance and repair. This panel discussion will focus on how leading companies are applying the technology throughout the extended manufacturing enterprise.
PANEL DISCUSSION: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ACROSS THE MANUFACTURING ENTERPRISEWednesday, March 28 | 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM
Artificial Intelligence or AI is receiving much popular attention as an emerging technology. However, AI is fuzzily used to refer to a wide spectrum of activities, from simple decision rules to ultra-intelligence replacing humans. This session will explore the latest thinking on AI, what the state of AI technology currently is and how it is progressing. The panel will focus on AI’s application to aerospace and defense, both in the A&D products themselves and in the manufacturing equipment and methods used to produce those products.

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a global defense company headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems develops a broad range of systems at the leading edge of space, defense and electronics technology. The sector is a leading developer of military and civil space systems, and currently employs about 9,000 at the Space Park campus. Space Park comprises 160 acres, with 50 buildings totaling 4.7 million square feet; 40% is devoted to Research and Development and 17% to highly specialized manufacturing.
Tour of the James Webb Space Telescope, which is a key program for NASA and the scientific community (central to the nation’s ground- and space-based astrophysics program). Northrop Grumman is the observatory contractor, responsible for three of four observatory segment elements and observatory integration.
BOEING ASSEMBLY, INTEGRATION & TEST (AI&T)Monday, March 26 | 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Boeing in El Segundo is the largest satellite factory in the world, encompassing more than 1 million square feet of manufacturing and engineering space. In 50 years, the plant has produced satellites used for research, exploration, communication, navigation, entertainment, intelligence and surveillance. Boeing in El Segundo produced the first spacecraft to make a fully controlled soft landing on the moon and the first spacecraft to penetrate Jupiter’s atmosphere. It also provided the radar for the Magellan spacecraft that took detailed images of Venus’ surface. The tour of Boeing’s El Segundo factory will include opportunities to view satellites in various stages of production in addition to the support test equipment and assets used to process space vehicles through integration and functional test.

OEM AND GOVERNMENT SMALL BUSINESS OUTREACH
The OEM and Government Small Business Outreach Pavilion will help small businesses connect for big opportunities. Hear from and meet with Small Business Liaison Officers (SBLOs), the advocates for small businesses. These individuals are the first point of contact for anyone interested in doing business with the OEMs and government. The SBLOs provide direction to potential small business suppliers and work to ensure that these firms have access to the requesting organizations and are aware of current subcontracting opportunities.
SBLOs will be on-site from the following companies/agencies:

Increasing flexibility, eliminating redundancy, forming collaborative supply chain relationships and improving supply chain agility are some of the essentials for a strong innovative industrial base. Innovative manufacturers with unique value are critical to the strength of the nation’s industrial base. Hear how you can benefit from the latest strategies and programs to strengthen the defense-wide industrial base.
A helicopter’s dynamic system is subjected to a high fatigue load. The choice of material and process must meet numerous requirements to ensure high security and reliability at the best operating cost for the customer. This presentation is an overview of the different materials and processes involved in the dynamic system and the main drivers for their development.
AEROFIED PREFERRED SUPPLIER PAVILION
This area on the exhibit floor provides an enhanced networking experience that connects attendees, pre-qualified contract suppliers and decision makers from aerospace and defense companies. It gives participants a chance to directly engage
with large and medium manufacturers who are looking to make both short- and long-term investments.
All Pavilion exhibitors are hand-selected by Aerofied. As attendees enter the Pavilion, they are greeted by Aerofied representatives who create custom itineraries based on the attendee’s specific interests, needs and requirements. Key contacts from large aerospace and defense companies share strategic insights through presentations and one-on-one sessions, and attendees receive contact information that enables post-event follow up.
SMART MANUFACTURING HUB
AeroDef attendees will have an exclusive opportunity to learn how smart manufacturing is revolutionizing manufacturing. Building on SME’s Smart Manufacturing magazine, this dynamic area features the industry’s most advanced smart technologies, including
the latest developments in automation, additive manufacturing, controls, software, operations, industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and big data, and more from industry experts.

POSTER CHALLENGE AND DISPLAYLearn about new perspectives and innovative ideas from the next generation of manufacturing researchers, engineers and industry professionals.
Posters will be on display on Tuesday, March 27 and Wednesday, March 28.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT FORUM
The Career Development Forum is for college and university students, faculty members and early careerists (emerging professionals) who want to network and share ideas and experiences. It takes place Tuesday, March 27, and Wednesday, March 28, and is an interactive event designed to enhance career development and grow future generations of leaders in the aerospace and defense manufacturing community.
SKILLED TALENT RECRUITMENT
Attracting top talent to your organization is key and many organizations struggle to fill critical positions. Take advantage of the AeroDef Virtual Career Fair and onsite job boards to assist you in finding the skilled talent necessary to take on new initiatives and stay competitive.
Looking to make a career transition? Learn what skills aerospace and defense manufacturers deem most important and the companies with openings for which you may just be the perfect candidate!
MIXED REALITY SOLUTION CENTER
Learn the power virtual reality, augmented reality and heads-up displays can have in manufacturing from engineering to production and maintenance. We will show the process starting from design engineering and how that information is used on the factory floor all the way through maintenance and repair.
This will be a live, participative demonstration of the technologies and will also include a demonstration on how to take a 3D CAD model and develop a set of fairly simple rules that are used to create assembly instructions, potentially reducing or eliminating the need to make drawings. Highly detailed instructions can be made in a few seconds; attendees will see the entire process and capabilities and will be able to discuss the benefits of these technologies.
