• THE SMART LOCKS CONTROL SYSTEM AIMS TO HELP HOTEL MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL BY
REMOVING THE NEED FOR MANUAL SETUP OF LOCKS AND INCREASING THE EFFICIENCY OF

WITHOUT NEEDING TO PHYSICALLY ACCESS EACH LOCK ONE AT A TIME.
• USERS CAN CHANGE LOCK CODES, OPEN AND CLOSE DOORS, AND VIEW LOCK ACCESS
LOGS THROUGH THEIR COMPUTERS OR MOBILE DEVICES, FROM THE COMFORT OF WHATEVER
INTERNET-ACCESSIBLE LOCATION THEY CHOOSE.
CORE CAPABILITIES
• USER HIERARCHY.
DISTINCTION AMONG DIFFERENT ACCESS LEVELS.
• REMOTE ACCESS TO LOCKS.
LOCK, UNLOCK, AND CHANGE CODES.
• ACCESS USER LOG FILES.
MONITOR STAFF AND GUESTS.
PERSONA 01- HOTEL RECEPTIONIST
Rahimat Quraishi
DescriptionRahimat works as a hotel receptionist
in Las Vegas. He has six children and
works an additional job as a bartender
after he finishes his work at the hotel.
Attributes•Economical
•Family-oriented
•Busy
Goals & Aspirations•Finish his work at the hotel as
efficiently and thoroughly as possible
so that he can work more hours at his
other job and focus on his family life
User ScenarioCurrently the rather large hotel that
Rahimat works for has a Smart Lock
system in place. However, in order to
change the lock codes, Rahimat must
call for workers to manually do so. This
not only costs extra money, but also
costs considerable time, as the workers
must physically access the locks one at
a time in order to change the codes.
Basic DemographicAge: 52
Gender: Male
Occupation: Hotel Receptionist
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
Marital Status: Married
Computer Literacy
Level/Technical LifestylesRahimat has limited experience with
computers, as he grew up in a small
town that did not keep up to date with
technology and does not use his
computer for leisure.
PERSONA 02 – HOTEL MANAGER
Iskra Izvitskaya
DescriptionIskra owns and manages a hotel in Las
Vegas. She visits the United States over
the summer but resides and works
mostly in Moscow, Russia.
Attributes•Busy
•Organized
•Ambitious
Goals & Aspirations•Monitor changes in lock codes and
access to rooms remotely
•Grant varying levels of access to
information about the locks to her staff
based on their positions
User ScenarioIskra currently does not have an
automatic system to record changes in
lock codes and lock access times, as
her employees perform these actions
manually. This makes it difficult for Iskra
to keep track of all the data. It also
makes it harder for her to supervise the
transfer of this information when hiring
new staff and to maintain a high level of
security.
Basic DemographicAge: 31
Gender: Female
Occupation: Hotel Manager
Location: Moscow, Russia
Marital Status: Single
Computer Literacy
Level/Technical LifestylesIskra regularly uses computers for both
her hotel work and her other job in
Russia, as well as in her personal life.
