Project TitleProject Title : Voice Controlled Home Automation.
Seminar TitleSeminar Title : Smart Home Automation using Z-Wave protocol.
IEEE Paper explains how to observe and control the home devices remotely. Even in the project, we are controlling the home appliances remotely through the voice commands using TCP/IP Protocol. The Z-Wave wireless protocol has been discussed in detail as a new solution for wireless HANs.

Secton-Secton-11 : INTRODUCTION : INTRODUCTION
During the last decade, different technologies have evolved for “Smart Home Automation” in order to save time, energy and effort.
Connect and Communicate with each other. Home Area Network(HAN). Wireless Home Automation Network(WHAN). Smart Home Security System : To avoid
violation of privacy of users and protecting the house owners and their property.

Smart Home Wireless Protocols:Smart Home Wireless Protocols:
Smart Homes must contain the medium and protocols to facilitate and enable the transfer of commands between devices. INSTEONINSTEON: Defines the mesh topology composed of
RF and Power line links. ZigBeeZigBee : It is a wireless networking technology
evolved by the Zigbee Alliance for low data rate and short range applications.
Z-WaveZ-Wave : It is oriented and aims to supply an easy and credible way to wirelessly control home appliances.

More About Z-Wave :More About Z-Wave :
Definition: The Z-Wave is a wireless protocol for automation appliances connection and communication.
Protocol was developed by the Danish start up called Zenysis based in Denmark in the year 2004.
Uses Radio Frequency(RF) for signaling and control.
Frequency : 900 MHZ. Range : 30m Data Rates : up to 100kbps Defines mesh topology.

Home and Commercial Environment. Through the walls and floors. 232 Appliances. Individual Devices are called nodes. Intermediate Nodes to cover large areas. There are 2 types of Appliances: Controllers and
Slaves.2 types of controllers : Primary and Secondary.Primary Controller gives Home ID and Node ID and
administer the devices IDs.Secondary Controller administers the routing table.

Media Access Control (MAC) Layer:Media Access Control (MAC) Layer: The MAC Layer Controls the RF medium. The data will be Manchester coded or PE coded. In Z-Wave MAC Layer, The data are split into 8-bits frames. Contains Collusion Avoidance(CA) Technique that allows the
transmission of frame when the channel is available. The Layer provides the optional retransmission technique
based on ACK.

Section-3 : Z-Wave Door Lock Scenario and Security• One of the most important scenarios that is used in the Z-
Wave network is Z-Wave door locks.• The Smart RF Studio software which provides the Texas
Instruments CC110 radio transceiver equipment.• With CC110, get and send the frames with 9.6 kbps.• Also in transport layer, it uses the checksum Algorithm.• In Application Layer, the data frame begins with 1bytes
command header demonstrating the command is unicast, multicast or broadcast.
• The Command Classes determine appliances functionality such as lock/unlock doors or alert sensor.

Section-5 : Conclusion and Future WorkSection-5 : Conclusion and Future Work
HAN in smart homes is used to observe and control of devices remotely.
The protocol has many advantages over the other protocols (like ZigBee) as it provides :
• Better reliability• No Interference• Easy usage • Easy to Install
Instead of controlling the devices via the remote controllers, the self learning devices may evolve in future (like Google Self-driving car).
In the future home devices can develop to become capable of self-learning and performing tasks without control on manually or remotely.
