Wiley-Bouknight Families Shine during the Holiday Concert

Many living in the Smith Mountain Lake area eagerly await the occasion when the talented Wiley and Bouknight families join to present a holiday concert. The nearly 400 ticket holders who attended the Wiley Bouknight Family Christmas on December 20 found their expectations exceeded with this year’s program.

Maestro David Stewart Wiley, the music director and conductor of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of Long Island, New York, played the piano for every piece and was accompanied by his son, Misha, on cello and wife, Leah, on vocals. Misha has practically grown up before the eyes of his many friends at Smith Mountain Lake, and his talent is phenomenal. Leah Wiley is a bright and delightful soprano who performed a beautiful rendition of Pie Jesu and Jesu Bambino. Phillip and Tara Bouknight, both professionally trained and experienced with oratorio, strongly represented the Bouknight family with O, Holy Night and Mary, Did you Know, among others. Phillip read a stunning version of A Christmas Story from 1914, and an audience favorite was David’s improvisation of Santa Claus is Coming to Town followed by audience participation for a traditional sing along of carols.

Many thanks to these generous and talented artistic families for bringing joy to the season!
