WHAT SIBRATEC IS

SIBRATEC is one of the main instruments used by Brazilian Governmentto integrate the scientific and technological community and innovativeenterprises.

Instituted by Decree nº 6,259, of November 20th 2007, SIBRATECintegrates the Action Plan on Science, Technology and Innovation forNational Development (PACTI 2007-2010).

Sets financing actions to create a favorable environment to technologicalinnovation in enterprises.

HOW IT WORKS

OBJECTIVE ORGANIZATION GOVERNANCE

To provide conditions to enterprises to increase their current levels of innovation. It means higher aggregated value to enterprises results, more productivity, more competitiveness and a greater insertion of Brazil in the global market.

Organized in three types of networks, named components:

• Innovation Centers

• Technological Services

•Tecnology Extension

Managed nationwide by :

• Management Committee

• Three Technical Committees

• Executive Secretariat

• Executive Agency Each SIBRATEC network is managed by a Coordination Committee, integrated by networks integrants.

Legal Framework

Decree 6259 of 11/20/2007Established the Brazilian System of Technology - SIBRATEC to support thetechnological development of domestic industry through the following activities:I - research and development in innovation processes and products; andII - provision of metrology, extension, assistance, and technology transferservices.

• This component aims at generating and transformingscientific and technological knowledge into products,processes and prototypes with commercial viability (radicalor incremental innovation)

• Innovation Centers are composed by development units orgroups that belong to technological research institutes,research centers or universities, with experience ininteracting with companies.

• It is desirable that the participants institutions should havea Intellectual Property Policy.

• This component provides access of small and mediumenterprises to the State Networks of Technology Extensionaiming at solving gaps in technology management, projects,development, production and commercialization of goods andservices.

• The sectors serviced by the Networks are chosen by the State, aiming at the reinforcement of local productive systems.
