    Greeting is an act ofcommunication in which

    human beings (as well as other members of

    the animal kingdom) intentionallymake theirpresence known to each other, to show

    attention to, and to suggest a type of

    relationship or social status betweenindividuals or groups of people coming in

    contact with each other.

    INDONESIA

    Shake hands and give a slight nod whenmeeting for the first time. After the first

    meeting, a handshake is not necessary; aslight bow or nod of the head is sufficient.Shake an Indonesian womans hand onlyif she initiates the greeting.

    Korean men greet each other with aslight bow and accompanying handshake

    JAPAN

    The common greeting for men and women as

    well is to bowwhen they greet someone, as

    opposed to giving a casual handshake or ahug.

    According to the angle the body makes there

    are three types of bowing eshaku or

    greeting bowing 5 degrees, futsuu rei orrespect bowing 30 degrees and saikei rei

    or highest respect bowing 45 degrees.

    Longer and deeper bowing is present at more

    formal occasions.

    MALAYSIA

    Smiling and nodding the head, is the simplest way

    to greet anyone. The traditional Malay greeting of

    "salam" resembles a handshake with both hands

    but without the grasp. The man offers both hands,

    lightly touches his friend's outstretched hands,and then brings his hands to his chest to mean, " I

    greet you from my heart". The visitor should

    reciprocate the "salam".

    In Thailand the way of greetingeach other called the Wai ( ).

    The wai is the Thai greeting and

    show of respect, indicated bypressing your palms together nearyour chest and bowing.
