1 Slate Reader Guide The Slate system performs best in the Firefox and Chrome browsers. To access the Slate system, open your browser of choice and enter the following address: apply-graham.uchicago.edu/manage/ Login using your CNET ID and Password. Once an application is started, it exists as a virtual file within Slate, which moves throughout the process in a variety of ways – actions taken by the applicant, administrator, and readers can change the status and location of this virtual file. Some of this happens automatically, but almost everything can be done, or overridden, manually. Slate itself has several components, one of which is a built in system for managing and viewing these applications. This portion of Slate is called the “Reader.” To access the Reader in Slate, go to the site apply-graham.uchicago.edu/manage/ or click on the Reader button: You will start out in the Reader’s “Home” section, with navigation choices on the left side: Home – brings you back to the Home screen of the Reader. Browse – Shows you the number of applications currently contained in each Bin. Bins are virtual holding containers for applications as they go through the stages of review. Applications can be moved to categorize their stage in the reading cycle. Click on a Bin box to see a list of the applications within that bin.
