Up until 1980, the resort, which is now known as Spring Creek Ranch, was part of Senator Cliff Hansen’s ranch. At that time he sold 1000 acres to a group of investors. The project was initiated by Somerset Corporation, a real estate development partnership with projects in southern California and the southwest.
The master planning was completed on the first half of the project in 1981. By 1982, construction of the infrastructure of the road, water and sewer, as well as the first 24 townhouses was complete. The hotel consisting of 24 rooms was built, along with the Granary Restaurant, in 1985. The Harvest Dance units were built in various phases during 1983, 1985, 1986, and 1989. The first twelve Elk Dance lots were platted in 1983, while Phase II was in 1989 and Phase III in 1992, with amendments currently being considered. Four more Sundance units (similar to the Choate design along the front ridge) were added in 1983.

Projections are for a 58-room/suite hotel, including 18 suites that will be for sale. The future residential development is projected to have another 65 lots and homesites – for a total 170.
The lots range in size from .70 to 2.13 acres.
Spring Creek Ranch is a very popular resort, offering a variety of activities such as tennis and swimming.
