Vocabulary is one of the important English component because without
understand it well, the students will get the difficulties in studying English. The
condition of teaching and learning process in SDN Tugulor Demak , the teacher
does not use any technique to teach English especially in improving vocabulary.
The teacher only give the meaning of some vocabulary directly while delivering
the material. On this condition the writer tries to apply fly swatter game as the
technique to improve the students achievement. Fly swatter game is a kind of
game that need a tool and some clues.
The objective of the research is to find out whether there is significant
difference of the vocabulary mastery of the third grade students in SDN Tugulor
Demak in Academic Year 2014/2015, before and after being taught by using Fly
Swatter.
This research is an experimental research. The writer uses one group pretest
and post test design. The population in this research is the third grade students of
SDN Tugulor Demak in Academic Year 2014/2015 and the sample is the students
of III A class. Before the students have treatments, they have pretest first that has
been tried out to find out the validity and reability. After the treatment has been
done, the writer gives the post test to the students and to compare the result with
pretest result. Then the data were analyzed using t-test.
The result of the vocabulary mastery of the third grade students in SDN
Tugulor Demak in academic year 2014/2015 before being taught by using fly
swatter game has mean 52.4 and the standard deviation is 9.6 while the mean of
posttest is 76.9 and the standard deviation is 11.16, it can be concluded that t-
observation 6.9 in the level of significance α = 0.05 and the degree of freedom
(df)20 which is gained from N-1, the t-table is 2,09. Thus, Ho is denied and Ha is
confirmed. So, the hypothesis states “there is any significant difference between
the students’ vocabulary mastery at the third grade students in SDN Tugulor
Demak in academic year 2014/2015 before and after taught by using Fly Swatter
Game” is confirmed.
Based on the result of the research above, it is expected that English teachers
should be more creative in using various kinds of interesting teaching
techniques.The writer suggeststo the English teachers to take the benefit of the Fly
Swatter Game that can make the students feel enjoy in learning English, especially
be master the vocabulary.

Vocabulary adalah salah satu komponen bahasa inggris yang sangat
penting karena tanpa mengerti itu dengan baik, siswa akan menemukan
banyak kesulitan dalam belajar bahasa inggris. Sistuasi di SDN Tugulor
Demak ketika guru yang mengajar bahasa inggris tidak menggunakan
beberapa tekhnik untuk mengajar bahasa inggris. Guru hanya memberi tahu
artinya dari kosa katanya secara langsung ketika menyampaikan materi.
Karena itu, penulis ingin mencoba permainan fly swatter sebagai tekhnik
untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan
yang signifikan dalam kemampuan vocabulary siswa kelas tiga SDN Tugulor
Demak Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015, sebelum dan sesudah diajarkan dengan
menggunakan permainan fly swatter.
Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen. Penulis menggunakan satu
kelompok pre test dan post test. Dalam penelitian ini populasinya adalah
semua kelas tiga SDN Tugulor Demak Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015, dan
sampelnya adalah siswa di kelas 3A. Sebelum siswa mendapatkan treatment,
siswa harus mendapatkan pre test terlebih dulu yang sudah di lakukan penulis
untuk mengetahui valitdity dan reability. Setelah treatmen selesai penulis
memberikan post test untuk membandingkan hasil antara pre test and post test.
Kemudian datanya di analisis menggunakan t-test.
Hasil dari kemampuan dalam menguasai kosa kata siswa kelas tiga SDN
Tugulor Demak tahun ajaran 2014/2015 sebelum di ajar menggunaka
permainan fly swatter hasil dari mean adalah 52,4 dan standard deviation
adalah 9.6. sedangkan setelah di ajar menggunkan permainan fly swatter hasil
dari mean adalah 76.9 dan standard deviation adalah 11.16, dari hasil itu bisa
di simpulkan bahwa t-pengamatan 6.9 pada tingkat signifikansi = 0,05dan
derajat kebebasan (df) 20 yang diperoleh dari N-1, t-tabel 2,09. Dengan
demikian, H0 ditolak dan Ha dikonfirmasi. Jadi, hipotesis menyatakan, "Ada
perbedaan signifikan antara kemampuan vocabulary siswa kelas kelas tiga di
SDN Tugulor Demakpada tahun ajaran2014/2015 sebelum dan sesudah
diajarkan dengan menggunakan permainan fly swatter” dikonfirmasi.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di atas, penulis berharap bahwa guru bahasa
inggris harus lebih kreatif dalam menggunakan berbagai macam tekhnik
dalam menyampaikan materi. Penulis menyarankan untuk guru bahasa inggris
untuk menggunakan permainan fly swatter yang sangat bermanfaat bagi siswa
dan bisa membuat siswa lebih enjoy dalam belajar bahasa inggris, termasuk
untuk bisa lebih meningkatkan kemampuan vocabulary siswa.
