Kris’ Kolumn

Confessions. Confessions are good for the soul.

Confessions are cathartic.

Summer. Summer is good for the soul. Summers are cathartic.

Just when you think you can’t take any more winter (or when you think you’d take it if

it went on forever), summer comes along and melts your soul down to the core. Summer forces you to realize that most of the world is in HOT regions (at least most of

the year).

Most of all, summer gives you the opportunity to cram all that warm-weather stuff into a few short months. But, not all summers are created equal. Last year, summer went

from April thru November and was nice’n toasty. This year, summer hasn’t really reared its head – or anything else.

Let’s face it, we sell off these great days of sailing on our wonderful boats, but cannot

invite people out (yet), because it’s just too dang chilly. Maybe, we could advertise outings as s’mores on the ocean and roast marsh mellows over the BBQ!

So, I must confess that I’ve been kinda day dreamin’, pondering the good ol’ hot summer days, weeks, months, and praying that we’re in for one heck of a summer!

Rock-on Roberto and Cynthia with your schedule of activities for the summer and Gary and Yvonne, too, with all those Friday night bands in the parks! Rock-on with the beer,

wine, and other (?) festivals in Mammoth and around town! Rock-on with Long Beach

Ski Club BBQs, Pool Parties, Wine Tastings, and (dare I suggest it?) Pig Roasts!

Rock-on with keeping in or getting into shape for the next ski season! Start with chair

yoga, move onto regular yoga, and workouts at the gym … then maybe, at the beach or in the ocean. Such an appetite for breakfast after an hour of hard sweating at the

gym or after snorkeling around a good portion of Catalina Island!

I am inviting you all to join the Long Beach Ski Club for another fantastic summer treasure trove of happenings, activities, and Fun-in-the-Sun! And yes, the Sun and the

heat will get here! Your President guarantees it!

Cheers!

Kris

Hopefully, the trip will be scheduled for the first week of February for the 2017 Week

Choices are as follows:

BIG SKY, Montana Big White, Canada

Email your selection now to Shep at: [email protected]

If anyone feels they can host the Aspen Pot Luck Photo Party, please contact Shep as

soon as possible at his Email address: [email protected]

Hope you all will be at the June 1st LBSC General Meeting, at Ecco’s in Los Altos on

Bellflower at 7:00pm, for a little Pizza and if you are lucky…. a bottle of wine!

Craig’s Crag …

By Craig Gibson

‘Looking Back and Looking Forward’

Our mid-April mailer

was a success! It

yielded 55 early

membership

renewals, 39 Dinner

Dance reservations

and a large amount

of completed ballots.

Despite this success

35 members, as yet,

have not renewed.

SKI BREEZE JUNE 2016 VOLUME 78, ISSUE 1

Some of our members, logically so, assume that membership coincides with the regular

January through December calendar year. It does not. Our membership spans from

June 1 until May 31- dates which coincide more with the annual ski season.

If you have not

renewed your

membership,

please take a

moment and scroll

down to the

bottom of this

publication, print

it out, and send it

in to the address

indicated.

Before you

know it, you

will be back

gigging with

this merry

band and

having

more fun

than you

can shake a

stick at.

Here’s to the start of another

great year!

Get Loose with Lance By Lance

The annual dinner dance was a

great success and the ‘Aloha Boys’

were there to make sure everyone

signed in and received their

dinner choices for this special

evening. About 40 members

attended and enjoyed their

dinners and comradery!

Aloha Boys were also busy

ensuring memberships were

renewed & paid for, sold raffle

tickets and had everyone sign

away their first born…just kidding.

Bouquets of flowers were given to recipients for various positions

SKI BREEZE JUNE 2016 VOLUME 78, ISSUE 1

There was also a raffle table filled with

many prizes and bid sheets.

Visit our website for pictures showing

all recipients and their prizes!

SKI BREEZE JUNE 2016 VOLUME 78, ISSUE 1

And of course, we ended our evening by bidding farewell to our outgoing board

members from 2015-2016.

We will be having a wine tasting on Saturday, June 18th at 5pm. Event will be at the

Wine Crush, located 3131 E. Broadway in Long Beach. Please bring an appetizer to

share. A flyer will be sent out soon with details.
