Sizing a Sliding Stem Actuator Using Fisher Specification ManagerA Basic ApproachLETS BEGIN

1. Complete all tabs up to and including Valve Construction *

2. Click on Actuator Selection

* If you need help filling in the tabs up to this point, see the Help tutorial Sizing a Valve from Scratch.

Note: Not all the fields in the first five tabs are necessary for Actuator Sizing. Click on the adjacent check list to see the minimum fields required for actuator sizing. This list is also in the How Do I? section under Enable Actuator Sizing Buttons

1. Select an Actuator Type and Fail Mode * 2. Continue to fill out the rest of the fields.

* The Sliding Stem Actuator Sizing button should now be enabled. If the Rotary Actuator Sizing button enables, you are in the wrong tutorial. If neither enable, you missed some necessary fields in previous tabs or entered incorrect information.

3. Click Sliding Stem Actuator Sizing button

Note: Actuator Sizing is optional. Your local Fisher Controls sales representative can size and select an optimal actuator based on the information you provided above.

1. Select Standard from drop down

2. Click Next

1. Click Calculate

Note: There is no need to add information here. Based on previous fields, the program has filled out the white input section for you.

1. Select an Actuator Size and Bench Set

2. Click Select

Note: Calculated Results appear below.

Note: To view the list of actuators you sized or to select a different actuator, click the Solution List button.

1. Click Ok

Now, you can continue on with Positioner

An actuator has been appropriately sized.
