2018 Catholic Appeal Update
We're getting close! Thanks to the 284 donors who have pledged $101,935, representing 90% of our $113,725 goal. Can you help us reach (or, even better, exceed) our goal? We appeal especially to the 113 donors who gave to the 2017 Appeal, but have not yet made a pledge this year. Your help now would certainly put us over our goal.
Remember, the Appeal benefits not only the many minis-tries of the Archdiocese, but our own parish, as well. We are grateful for your prayerful consideration of the 2018 Appeal.
Catholic Women’s Club of Arlington
The Catholic Women's Club of Arlington will hold its An-nual Luncheon for the Installation of Officers and Welcome of New Members on Wednesday, May 16, at The Fair-ways at the Woburn Country Club, starting with a social hour at 11:30AM, followed by lunch at noon. Entree choice is either lemon baked scrod or chicken marsala.
Cost is $30 per person and must be paid in advance by May 10. Mail your check payable to CWCA with an indi-cation of choice of entree to Joan Sweeney, 18 Frazer Rd., Arlington, MA 02476. This is our last meeting of the club year, so we look forward to seeing everyone there.
Book Fair Weekend The Daughters of St. Paul, Boston, will be at our par-ish after all the Masses on the weekend of May 19/20. These Media Sisters, who operate the Pauline Bookstore on Route 1 in Dedham, will bring a wonderful selection of materials which they publish and produce. Be sure to stop by and peruse their display: Spiritual reading, Lives of the Saints, books for Children, DVD’s, music and more!
These wonderful items will assist you with the ongo-ing faith formation of your family, and will provide good Spiritual reading. Choose something to enrich your faith or for gift giving! Additionally you can check out their website: www.pauline.org

Marian Mile
Join us as we pray the Rosary. We meet every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights at 7:30PM at the Fatima statue in the garden. This is a great way to exercise spiritually. In inclement weather, we meet in the church.

May May the month of
Why is May the Month of Mary? For centuries, since the earliest days of the church, an entire month was set aside to honor Mary. The season of Spring and the month of May are most appropriate to celebrate Mary due to the liturgical calendars, former and present, marking several feast days honoring our Blessed Mother (see upper right corner). This is also the month that holds some of the most famous Marian Apparitions*.
Mary Marian Feast Days this Month- May 12th- Our Lady, Queen of Apostles May 13th- Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament - Our Lady of Fatima May 24th- Mary, Help of Christians May 31st- Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces - The Visitation
How can Our Family Celebrate at Home?
-May Crowning Pick a day out of the month and do a May crowning at home! We suggest doing it on Mother’s Day. Build a flower crown and sing songs in honor of Mary. An example is ‘Immaculate Mary’ the Lourdes Hymn.
-Build a Marian Shrine Get a Mary statue from your local store and as a family, plant some spring flowers around our Blessed Mother.
-Family Rosary A family that prays together, stays together. What more powerful a prayer than to say the Holy Rosary? Learn together and start small by praying a decade a day. Give the example of Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco, 7-10 year olds who prayed many rosaries a day all on their own.
-Bring a flower to Mary Pick some flowers out of your garden and come with your children to our Fatima statue outside and lay the flowers at her feet. Together pray a Hail Mary or learn a new prayer like the “Hail Holy Queen” or “Memorare”.
-Miraculous Medals Get a Miraculous Medal for everyone in your family, extended family, and get some extra to share with friends at school.
-Start the First Saturday Devotion Our Lady of Fatima requested the practice of this devotion whether the world was at war or peace.
-Mary Bedtime Stories As kids, this is one of the favorite parts of the day. Share stories of the Marian Apparitions (some apparitions listed below*).
-Rosary Hanger, Peg Dolls…Craft Ideas Check out our website for some links to Catholic moms’
blogs on craft ideas for the Month of Mary.
-Feast Day Treats For each of the Feast days (listed at the top^) this month, get creative and whip up some festive meals. Check out our website for some inspiration.
-Brown Scapular Devotion Enroll your family into the brown scapular.
-Consecrate your family to the Immaculate Heart of Mary A prayer entrusting your family into the care of our Blessed Mother.
