Question 1 Read the passage and the vocabulary carefully and answer all the questions. Observe the mark scheme carefully so that you include sufficient detail to score the marks. Reflect the Latin in the passage as closely as you can to ensure high marks.

The two sons of King Tarquinius are outwitted by their cousin Brutus who becomes the first consul of Rome.

THE NINTH LABOUR – THE GIRDLE OF HIPPOLYTA

Having killed his wife in a fit of madness, Hercules was ordered to atone for his crime by

carrying out whatever tasks King Eurystheus imposed upon him. One of these labours was

to get the girdle of the Amazon queen, Hippolyta.
