Consolidation in the Indian Telecom Industry: A Way Out of their Financial Impasse
India’s telecom network is the second largest in the world by number of telephone users. Major sectors of the Indian telecommunication industry are telephone, internet and the television broadcast. In a country which is in an ongoing process of transforming into next generation network, an extensive system of modern network elements such as digital telephone exchanges, mobile switching centres, media gateways and signalling gateways are employed at the core. The access network, which connects the subscriber to the core, is highly diversified with different copper-pair, optic-fibre and wireless technologies. It is a capital-intensive business. Migration from 2G to 3G and now 4G has further necessitated huge capital expenditure.Global experience shows that industry size is an important determinant for the survival of telecom operators and mature markets can support only three to five players. Smaller companies may have no option eventually to either exit the telecom sector, or be taken over by, or merge with, bigger players, as the smaller players will increasingly find it difficult to cope with huge spectrum costs coupled with their inability to provide nationwide services at a price that makes business sense. This research project makes an exploratory study of how consolidation of the Indian telecom industry can possibly help solve these problems and lead to a more profitable, strengthened and competitive business.

“Analyzing the effects of consolidation on consumer preferences in Indian telecom industry”
Indian telecom Industry is witnessing transformations since a decade, due to the fast pace changes there have been major consolidations, as it is a need of the hour, due to cut throat competition and a fight for sustained competitive advantage, telecom players in India are resorting to consolidation thereby reducing the significant number of players, which can help to alleviate major challenges and to gain a competitive place in the sector. Consumers being the driving factors for this industry, consumers are expecting the benefits for the value they pay for, this is where the concept of consumer preference comes in . This research highlights on the drivers and key enablers for the consolidation, and its effect on how the consumers preferences are changing, taking into consideration the various metrics needed to calculate the consumer preferences. Finally it’s the consumer preferences which will be driving the company’s profitability, growth and give rise to innovations.

Factors leading to Customer Churn in Telecom Industry
Retaining customers is one of the most critical challenges in the maturing mobile telecommunications service industry. Using customer transaction and billing data, this study investigates determinants of customer churn in the Korean mobile telecommunications service market. Results indicate that call quality-related factors influence customer churn; however, customers participating in membership card programs are also more likely to churn, which raises questions about program effectiveness. Furthermore, heavy users also tend to churn. In order to analyze partial and total defection, this study defines changes in a customer’s status from active use (using the service on a regular basis) to non-use (deciding not to use it temporarily without having churned yet) or suspended (being suspended by the service provider) as partial defection and from active use to churn as total defection. Thus, mediating effects of a customer’s partial defection on the relationship between the churn determinants and total defection are analyzed and their implications are discussed. Results indicate that some churn determinants influence customer churn, either directly or indirectly through a customer’s status change, or both; therefore, a customer’s status change explains the relationship between churn determinants and the probability of churn.

The Role and Impact of packaging on Consumer decision making with special sector to E commerce Websites
“Most retailers are going the ecommerce way. Given the competitive scenario it is difficult to create a differentiator for the consumers especially when it comes to decision related on online shopping. Apart from price and product assortment the only aspect that can make a difference is a holistic 360 degree search experience. However the gap between mere “”presence in online space”” and “”creating impact through effective packaging of website”” is huge. Linking customer delight with new vital P’s of marketing mix is where the trend of the industry currently is. Packaging not only drives consumer purchase at the zero moment of truth, but also appeals to the customer and plays a vital role in brand visibility. The shift is in line with the “”brick and click”” engagement. The scope of packaging has increased from tangible products to intangible services. With the help of this research project, we wish to analyze this particular shift and predict the factors which the organizations around the world should incorporate to create an impact on the minds of the customers.”

Integration of Artificial intelligence (AI) with CRM
Artificial Intelligence is a way of making a computer, a computer-controlled robot, or a software think intelligently, in the similar manner the intelligent humans think. There’s definite signs that machines with artificial intelligence will soon be taking over skilled manual work that now is typically handled by humans. With the integration of Artificial Intelligence with CRM, the firms will be able to capture real-time signals, whenever and wherever they occur — from a customer’s social post to a prospect’s tweet. They will be able to analyze every data point, pulling together data from Sales force, external sources, and the Internet of Things to create a complete view of every customer.
