AWARD INFORMATIONThe Site Safe awards give national recognition to those making a difference in the New Zealand construction industry.
CATEGORIES
There are four categories available for entry:
THE SAFETY INNOVATION AWARD – SMALL TO MEDIUM BUSINESS(SMALL TO MEDIUM ORGANISATIONS UP TO 50 EMPLOYEES)
This award is for a site or company demonstrating the best new idea or initiative to drive improvements in health and safety systems or behaviours, address or manage a specific hazard or risk, create a design solution to address a problem, or to improve productivity.
THE SAFETY INNOVATION AWARD – LARGE BUSINESS(LARGE ORGANISATIONS OVER 50 EMPLOYEES)
This award is for a site or company demonstrating the best new idea or initiative to drive improvements in health and safety systems or behaviours, address or manage a specific hazard or risk, create a design solution to address a problem, or to improve productivity.
THE SAFETY LEADERSHIP AWARD(SMALL, MEDIUM OR LARGE BUSINESS) This award is for a site or company where an initiative has been implemented that involves organisational leaders in driving health and safety performance through visible and active involvement in health and safety activities. This could include developing safety culture, making safety positive, or demonstrating leadership at the highest level. This award is open to organisations of all sizes. Organisational leaders can be the CEO and senior managers in a large company through to the owner (or other person with significant influence) in an SME.
THE SAFETY CONTRIBUTION AWARD(INDIVIDUAL OR SMALL TEAM)
This award is for an individual (or small team) who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to health and safety in construction. This award acknowledges those people who light the spark in other people’s minds and inspire positive change and action in health and safety.
WINNERS
Winners from each category will receive an award trophy, a $1000 gift card from the award category sponsor and a case study feature in Site Safe’s publications. Awards are presented at Site Safe’s Evening of Celebration (which is held during November in Auckland), along with Site Safe’s Certificate in Construction Safety graduation.
JUDGING
Judging the awards will be undertaken by a panel made up of four individuals: an independent expert operating in the field of occupational health and safety in the construction industry, a construction industry representative, an employee representative and a Site Safe representative. The names of the judging panel and any discussion will remain confidential and no correspondence will be entered into.
The judges will be looking for those who demonstrate:
• The real benefits of health and safety• Real innovation in health and safety (thinking outside the square)• Empowering others to get involved and buy into health and safety• Ability for the initiative or idea to be adopted by others in the construction industry • Making health and safety positive

Along with your completed entry form, please include a document - (Microsoft Word or PDF) of no more than three pages, which outlines how your idea/initiative/project/person contributed positively to health and safety.
As a guideline, you may like to include:
Background (e.g. how things were, or the problem that was identified) Any photos or videos that you have (these can be sent separately to [email protected]) The change that was made How it impacted on health and safety The benefits to your business
