Page 2: Sir cumference and_the_round_table[1]

Once upon a time in a land far away there was a problem…………

• The king called for all his knights to gather together to discuss what was happening in a neighboring kingdom.

• When the knights sat down at the rectangle shaped table, not everyone could see the king or hear what others were saying. They were too far away.

Sir Cumference to the rescue….

• This knight had a great idea.

• Let’s cut the table in half, put the halves together and make it into a square.

• He went to work on the project right away.

Page 5: Sir cumference and_the_round_table[1]

Change the rectangle to a square.

• This was a good idea.• Cut the table in half

and make a square.• The problem with the

square was that some of the knights now had to sit at the 4 sharp corners and were uncomfortable.

Page 6: Sir cumference and_the_round_table[1]

He tried other shapes, but none of them were just right.

• Octagon

Triangle

Page 7: Sir cumference and_the_round_table[1]

The oval presented some of the same problems as the rectangle.

Page 9: Sir cumference and_the_round_table[1]

His wife, Lady Di gave him an idea.

• Why don’t you make a table that is completely round?

• What a great idea!• This way everyone

can see each other and be heard.

• Everyone will have the same amount of space.

Page 10: Sir cumference and_the_round_table[1]

The idea was a success!

• Now the meeting could go on as planned.

• All the other knights thought it was a great new table and they were very happy.

Page 11: Sir cumference and_the_round_table[1]

Sir Cumference developed a way to measure the circle.

They named this measurement after him and called it the circumference.

• Go back and try again.

• Ready…………set……………..go…….!
