To Whom It May Concern: About SingYouth Hub
Established in 2008, SingYouth Hub is a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) registered under the Registry of Societies on 17 February 2011 (UEN No: T11SS0032A) and MCYS COC with our charity status dated 12 Sept 2012. SingYouth Hub aims to be a hub for nurturing and engaging Singaporean youths in community work. The mission and core objectives are as follows:-
to develop activities so as to engage the Singaporean youth in the process of thinking, planning,
marketing and execution of community projects;
to set up an online resource centre for youths to initiate sustainable projects and programmes for
community and welfare organisations;
to facilitate online volunteer matching;
to develop and cultivate leadership and organisational capabilities of youths
Social Entrepreneurship– Theory and Practical Programme Introduction SingYouth Hub has developed a new initiative to nurture and engage Singaporean youths in community work. This initiative comprises of both theoretical and practical components thereby providing a comprehensive training programme for budding social change-makers. Objectives 1. To inculcate social enterprise. 2. To engage youths in community work. 3. To create and promote awareness for various welfare organisations. 4. To increase social engagement and self-esteem of the primary beneficiaries. 5. To expose youths to the procedures and skill sets required for setting up welfare initiatives
Theory: Social Change-makers Training Programme Introduction Welfare initiatives are often planned by welfare organisations or volunteer groups. Student volunteers are primarily involved only in the programme’s final execution. This diminishes ownership and therefore decrease motivation for such initiatives in student volunteers. This also deters transference of important skill sets associated with these initiatives.

Programme Details SingYouth Hub strives to provide a high quality, structured platform to youths with dreams of being social change-makers. SingYouth Hub aims to empower them to plan and execute effective social initiatives through comprehensive training programmes and practical experiential learning. To this end, enriching teaching curricula have been developed and can cater to various groups targeted under our programme. They include youths from secondary schools, junior college, polytechnic, ITE and universities. Under our programme, youth leaders will be developed to mentor fellow students in various self-initiated projects. In so doing, the programme helps meet service shortfalls currently present in the education system, such as empowering youths with the awareness and basic training in project management. These aspects will assist youths inbetter managing their social-learning projects and equip them with key specialised skill sets. Practical: Charity Pushcart Programme (since 2010) Introduction Welfare initiatives are often planned and executed by welfare organisations or volunteer groups independently. Youths are often unexposed to the intricacies of the processes involved. Programme Details Charity Pushcart is a mentorship programme that aims to guide youths through the procedure of setting up social welfare initiatives. The simple model of a fundraiser at a publicly located pushcart/booth has been chosen to provide youths with the platform to acquire invaluable skill-sets. Selected youths will form a committee and be guided by mentors with vast experience in the field, including representatives from collaborating welfare organisations and social entrepreneurs, to set up charity events. In doing so, we provide them with the necessary skills and required network to organise future welfare initiatives of their choice. Target no. of participants 25,000 participants (1 year) Target no. of beneficiaries 3,000 beneficiaries Volunteers A group of volunteers will be selected from schools. Targeted schools include secondary schools, junior colleges and tertiary institutions. Selected volunteers will form a committee to assist the beneficiaries in selling their products and/or promoting their services.Students go through products orientation at our beneficiaries to gain a deeper understanding of their background and needs before embarking on the
programme.. The aim is to encourage students to volunteerand participate actively in the community, and to
help build up their confidence, responsibility,and to sharpen their financial and social entrepreneurial skills.
