The history

Page 8: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

Prior to 1925, SBC entities competed with one another for the churches’ missions gifts.

Page 9: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

Entities had to raise funds church by church. The process was cumbersome, inefficient and ineffective.

Page 10: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

Then a new approach originated in Kentucky.

Page 11: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

In 1915, Boyce Taylor, pastor of FBC, Murray developed a plan for unified giving.

Page 12: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

Through this plan, offerings were divided among various ministries on a predetermined percentage basis.

Page 13: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

The SBC used a similar approach in 1919 with the 75 Million Campaign.

Page 14: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

This led to the launch of the Cooperative Program in 1925.

Page 15: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

In Kentucky, more than $660 million has been given to share the Gospel through CP.

The process

Page 17: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

The process begins when you give yourself to God.

(2 Corinthians 8:5)

Page 18: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

Out of gratitude and obedience to God, you give back to the Lord through your church.

Page 19: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

Your church prayerfully decides how much of its undesignated gifts will be committed to CP Missions.

Page 20: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—

Messengers to the KBC annual meeting, elected by local churches, decide how CP gifts are divided.

Page 21: Since 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has had one mission—
