1 Corinthians 5:1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father’s wife.

Extra Scripture Readings (for personal and small group use)Psalm 15:1-5 – What does it look like to be a person of integrity?

I John 1:1-10 & Proverbs 5:21-23 – How do we try to hide our sins from God? How successful are those attempts?

Hebrews 12:1-11 – Why does God discipline his children?

Acts 5:1-11 – What was the source of Peter’s boldness in holding these two accountable for their lies?

1 Thessalonians 2:1-12 – How did living a blameless life strengthen Paul’s confidence in his ministries?

1 Corinthians 6:1-11 – If you think you have a legal case against a Christian business owner, what should you do?

Preparation for Group1. Who do you have in your life that helps hold you accountable for your actions, choices, words, and attitudes?

2. What happens to a church that allows blatant sin in its congregation to go unchecked?

3. In what specific ways are you having a positive spiritual influence on your closest friends? How are you being influenced by them?

3. WORLD CHANGERS _________THEMSELVES OF SIN.

1 Corinthians 5:6 Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough?

1 Corinthians 12:26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it;…

1 Corinthians 5:7-8 Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast-- as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.

4. WORLD CHANGERS _______________FROM UNREPENTANT BELIEVERS.

1 Corinthians 5:9-10 I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.

1 Corinthians 5:11-13 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat. 12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked man from among you.”

1. WORLD CHANGERS ___________OVER SIN.

1 Corinthians 5:2 And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have been filled with grief and have put out of your fellowship the man who did this?

2. WORLD CHANGERS _________THE SINNER.

1 Corinthians 5:2 And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have been filled with grief and have put out of your fellowship the man who did this?

1 Corinthians 5:3-4 Even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. And I have already passed judgment on the one who did this, just as if I were present. 4 When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,

1 Corinthians 5:5 hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord.

1 Timothy 1:20 Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.

1 Corinthians 11:32 When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world.

1 Corinthians 11:30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.
