PROJECT DESCRIPTION - 1

Project Idea BackgroundTragic flood event, Nov. 2010, Province of Padua.Main causes: lack of an integrated communication system; lack of updated tools for forecasting.Analogue situations in the other participating Countries

Project Main ObjectiveTo USE* the results and scientific contribution EXISTING at European level, improving them until obtaining a SMART application ACCESSIBLE at DIFFERENT territorial LEVEL.

* There are several tools to forecast events but most of the times they are not updated or they are not able to run in real time due to non existent territorial networks able to supply the necessary data

PROJECT DESCRIPTION - 2

Why the project is necessary 1 - Need of increasing information circulation and citizenship awareness in order to restore the current feeling of insecurity between citizens caused by recent events.2 - Need of increasing coordination between EU Member States and networking between funded projects on the same theme in order to maximize the reached results and link them one to another. 3 - Need of increasing cooperation and integration between territorial entities involved in Civil Protection activities and flood risk prevention in order to guarantee data availability, territorial participation and the involvement of numerous territorial levels (down to Municipalities which have the tighter link with citizens)
