3 Technische Daten
Geräte 4 kW ≤ Pn <= 22 kW (230 V AC)

6.6 Notbetrieb

Components which can be destroyed by electrostatic discharge (ESD)
The board contains components which can be destroyed byelectrostatic discharge. These components can be easily destroyed ifnot carefully handled. If you have to handle electronic boards, pleaseobserve the following:
Electronic boards should only be touched when absolutely necessary.
The human body must be electrically discharged before touching anelectronic board.
Boards must not come into contact with highly insulating materials - e.g.plastic parts, insulated desktops, articles of clothing manufactured fromman-made fibers.
Boards must only be placed on conductive surfaces.
Boards and components should only be stored and transported inconductive packaging (e.g. metalized plastic boxes or metalcontainers).
If the packing material is not conductive, the boards must be wrappedwith a conductive packaging material, e.g. conductive foam rubber orhousehold aluminum foil.

Safety and Operating Instructionsfor Drive Converters
(in conformity with the low-voltage directive 73/23/EEC)
1. General
In operation, drive converters, depending on their degreeof protection, may have live, uninsulated, and possiblyalso moving or rotating parts, as well as hot surfaces.
In case of inadmissible removal of the required covers, ofimproper use, wrong installation or maloperation, there isthe danger of serious personal injury and damage toproperty.
For further information, see documentation.
All operations serving transport, installation andcommissioning as well as maintenance are to be carriedout by skilled technical personnel (observe IEC 364 orCENELEC HD 384 or DIN VDE 0100 and IEC Report664 or DIN VDE 0110 and national accident preventionrules).
For the purposes of these basic safety instructions,"skilled technical personnel" means persons who arefamiliar with the installation, mounting, commissioningand operation of the product and have the qualificationsneeded for the performance of their functions.
2. Intended use
Drive converters are components designed for inclusionin electrical installations or machinery.
In case of installation in machinery, commissioning of thedrive converter (i.e. the starting of normal operation) isprohibited until the machinery has been proved toconform to the provisions of the EC directive 89/392/EEC(Machinery Safety Directive - MSD). Account is to betaken of EN 60204.
Commissioning (i.e. the start of normal operation) isadmissible only where conformity with the EMC directive(89/336/EEC) has been established.
The drive converters meet the requirements of the low-voltage directive 73/23/EEC. They are subject to theharmonized standards of the series prEN 50178/DINVDE 0160 in conjunction with EN 60439-1/DIN VDE0660 Part 500 and EN 60146/DIN VDE 0558.
The technical data as well as information concerning thesupply conditions shall be taken from the rating plate andfrom the documentation and shall be strictly observed.
3. Transport, storage
The instructions for transport, storage and proper useshall be complied with.
The climatic conditions shall be in conformity with prEN50178.
4. Installation
The installation and cooling of the appliances shall be inaccordance with the specifications in the pertinentdocumentation.
The drive converters shall be protected againstexcessive strains. In particular, no components must bebent and/or isolating distances altered in the course oftransportation or handling. No contact shall be made withelectronic components and contacts.
Drive converters contain electrostatic sensitivecomponents which are liable to damage throughimproper use. Electronic components must not bemechanically damaged or destroyed (potential healthrisks).
5. Electrical connection
When working on live drive converters, the applicablenational accident prevention rules (e.g. VBG 4) must becomplied with.
The electrical installation shall be carried out inaccordance with the relevant requirements (e.g. cross-sectional areas of conductors, fusing, PE connection). For further information, see documentation.
Instructions for the installation in accordance with EMCrequirements, such as screening, grounding, location offilters and wiring, are contained in the drive converterdocumentation. They must always be complied with, alsofor drive converters bearing a CE marking. Observanceof the limit values required by the EMC law is theresponsibility of the manufacturer of the installation ormachine.
6. Operation
Installations which include drive converters shall beequipped with additional monitoring and protectivedevices in accordance with the relevant applicable safetyrequirements, e.g. Act respecting technical equipment, accident prevention rules, etc. Changes to the driveconverters by means of the operating software arepermissible.
After disconnection of the drive converters from thevoltage supply, live appliance parts and power terminalsmust not be touched immediately because of possiblyenergized capacitors. In this regard, the correspondingsigns and markings on the drive converter must berespected.

3 Technical Data
The technical data listed in the chapter "Technical Data" of the generaloperating instructions for SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES Vector Controlapply to the converter.
An exception to this is that the power derating of units for liftapplications with Vrat ≤ 480 V (AC) or Vrat ≤ 650 V (DC) deviates fromthat of the standard unit. The following derating curve is applicable forthe permissible rated current as a function of the set pulse frequency:

In comparison to the standard derating curve, 100 % of the ratedcurrent (or 160 % for short-time overloading) is also permissible forhigher frequencies (8 / 10 kHz for units with 4 kW ... 55 kW, or 4 / 5 kHzfor units with 75 kW and 90 kW). The average drive utilisation, however, must not exceed 60 % and the overload current (160 %) mustonly last for 3 seconds (load-cycle alteration). If these criteria are notsatisfied, the pulse frequency is lowered automatically and the standardload cycle applies.

4 Abbreviated Instructions forCommissioning
These abbreviated instructions are for commissioning drives inaccordance with the lift standard as indicated in Fig. 4-1. In the event ofdeviations or additions, the corresponding operating instructions andthe Compendium are to be referred to. The unit must be ready foroperation. This means that it has been installed and connectedaccording to the operating instructions.
Forming: If the converter has been switched off or unconnected formore than a year, the DC link capacitors are to beformed. (See section "Forming" in the OperatingInstructions).
Definition of the power section:Before commissioning, it must be ensured that theconverter current (P072) matches the information onthe name plate. If necessary, the power section is to bedefined, as described in the VC Operating Instructionsand Compendium.
4.1 Operator control
These instructions have been written for operatorcontrol/parameterization directly at the converter by means of aparameterizing unit (PMU) or plain-text operator control panel (OP1S).
In addition to the structograms, notes on menu selection (invertedcommas, bold) are shown for the plain-text operator control panel. Amenu selection corresponds to parameterization of P060.
The structograms only contain a selection of parameters. Forcommissioning a standard application, parameters which are not showncan be skipped!
In addition to the basic unit parameters (P and r parameters), there areU and n parameters.
Access via PMU: Press the raise or lower button until the P/r parameterrange has been left and Uxxx or nxxx appears on the display.
The OP1S enables direct selection of the U/n parameter range byplacing a 2 at the front. Example: U802 = 2802.
By pressing the P button (press twice in the case of indexedparameters), the parameter value is selected. After this parametervalue has been altered, the alteration must be confirmed with the Pbutton. The display then jumps to the parameter number again.
In the instructions, indexed parameters are shown as follows:Pxxx.y, whereby the index y is separated from the parameter numberby a full stop.

4.5 Drive optimization
In the event of a continuous ON command, the converter changes tothe °008 status (switch-on inhibit) after the power supply has beenswitched on or after one of the steps in drive optimization. Only whenthe ON command is withdrawn is the °009 status (ready to start)reached, following which the converter can be switched on by settingthe ON command.

NOTE:When the function "Motor identification at a standstill" is
selected, current flows through the motor but the motor does notbuild up any motor torque. The brake must not be released! The higher-level control system must be used to ensure that themotor and the converter are connected to each other(⇒ Motor contactor "Closed").Identification is started by applying the external ON command, whereby the converter in this case does not operate the brake.
If the ON command is given by a drive control unit whichselects a setpoint at the same time, e.g. inspection run, this ispermissible. During motor identification at a standstill, theselected setpoint is ignored and the signal, "Release brake"is not given.

6.2 Setpoint specification by means of fixed setpoints
The converter enables specification of setpoints by means of fixedinternal setpoints.
For this purpose, there are 8 fixed setpoints available (U810 ... U817).
These can be selected by means of selection bits, e.g. via the terminalstrip.
The following selection procedures can be set by means of U822:
• Selection 1 from n U822 = 0
• BCD coded selection U822 = 1
• BCD coded selection with external trigger U822 = 1,U821 = Trigger input
The value of the fixed setpoints must be indicated in m/s below therelevant parameter number.
Setpoints are selected according to the following method:

6.3 Approach delay and short run
Changeover to the approach setpoint (FixSetp5) is carried out with adelay defined by the time specified in the parameter.
The delay time can serve to minimize the approaching time withouthaving to displace limit switches. A precondition for activation is that theramp-function generator is not ramping up and that the speed of thedrive is below that of the approach setpoint.
The approach setpoint is delayed by the time indicated in the parameterin order to achieve longer acceleration in the case of short startingdistances (ramp-function generator still ramping up).
In order to minimize the travelling time with approaching speedbecause the ramp-function generator does not fall below the given fixedsetpoint in this case and the approach setpoint is thus reached earlier.
A pre-condition for activation is that the ramp-function generator isramping up when a change is made to the approach setpoint.
6.4 Starting pulse (for hoisting gear)
The starting pulse is for "biasing" the speed controller.
Purpose: To prevent "sagging" of the load when the brake is openedand to ensure the load is assumed by the motor.
Precondition: The brake must receive the opening command andthe motor must previously have been at zero current.
The following can be set:
Level of the starting pulse(as a % of the rated speed of the equipment): U842
Decay time of the staring pulse (in ms): U843
Smoothing of the starting pulse (in ms): U841
Approach delayU845

6.5 Gain adaptation
Gain adaptation enables variable setting of speed-controller gain inrelation to another variable, e.g. the speed of the motor.
Used for lifts / hoisting gear:
Increase in the gain at a speed of 0 rpm in order, for example, toprevent sagging when the drive is switched on.

In gain adaptation, 2 gain values can be selected (P235 and P236).
Which of the two values applies to the speed controller is determined inrelation to the input (P232) of gain adaptation.
Between Gain1 and Gain2, there is a transition area determined bytransition points (P233 and P234).
To specify the settings of gain adaptation, proceed as follows:

6.6 Emergency operation
After a power-system failure, the converter is able to recognizepowering up of the power system with batteries to a lower DC linkvoltage as emergency operation. For this purpose, a voltage window inwhich the battery voltage is located must be parameterized. A motordata set to be selected during emergency operation as well can also bespecified in order to enable travelling with another type of control, forexample, with lower voltage. In this motor data set, the correspondingtype of control, the controller settings and so on must be set. With thepre-settings, operation in normal and emergency mode is possible withmotor data set 1.
In emergency mode, an emergency-operation speed is selected insteadof fixed setpoints 2 to 8.
During operation with battery voltage, the converter must be separatedfrom the mains supply because it can be destroyed when supply isrestored. The changeover to batteries and back to mains supply shouldbe carried out by a higher-level control system.
