Simone’s Message By Simone Cooke, Principal
WELCOME TO TERM TWO
A warm welcome back to Term Two. What an enjoyable and relaxation time we had during our Easter
Vacation. We were so thrilled so many of you could join us for our Easter festivities and visit from the Easter
bunny. This week we showcase the highlights of our three week Vacation, from Easter Yoga sessions with
Miss Kelly through to Easter Treasure Hunts, Rock n Roll Rabbit dance day and our PJ and Movie Day. It was
a wonderful opportunity for us all to just take a break from our regular classes and enjoy the celebrations!
SPECIALIST CLASSES
This term promises to be another busy term at Reddam with many varied and thought provoking
Provocations planned across each of the classes. We have made some slight changes to the timetabling
of our Specialist classes this term and a roster of our classes is attached to assist you in knowing when your
child’s classes will be taking place. Rotating our classes ensures all our children enjoy a sampling of each
of the various classes and some exciting new classes including Drama and Italian have been added. Our
existing teachers Valentina and Simon will also be assisting us with Italian classes this term with the success
of our Mandarin classes inspiring us to add another language class throughout the week.

Easter is such a fun time of year, filled with pastel colours, chocolate and catching up
with family and friends. For our Easter Craft Day the school was abuzz as it was the first
day of our Vacation Care Programme.
The Nest and Hatchlings made some adorable hand puppets whilst the Fledglings
tested their artistic talents painting "Mum and Bub" chicks. Stage 2 used various craft
items to make special Easter cards and Stage 3 and 4 used collage to decorate eggs
with new special chalk markers creating designs on black paper. Overall we had a busy
yet fabulous day!!

Eggs, Eggs, Eggs by Miss Kasia
Easter is a wonderful holiday to be celebrated. There are beautiful signs of spring, bright
colours, energetic children, and the excitement of the Easter egg hunt ahead. At
Reddam we like to celebrate Easter with all its egg-citing possibilities !
As part of the celebrations we invited the children to creatively decorate hard boiled
eggs. We used food colouring, sharpies, Japanese paper as well as googly eyes and
feathers. The Children created egg monsters, collage eggs, and traditional dyed eggs
called Pysanky. Each class had an opportunity to try new techniques and create their
own unique design.

It’s Easter Egg Hunt Day! Miss Amanda and Miss Riina
Each class got to go outside for an Easter egg hunt with their Teachers. Where are all the eggs?
The teachers hid shiny plastic eggs around the school for the children to find. The children found
them in trees, in the cubby house, in pot plants and even in the sandpit! Everyone had a
wonderful time out in the sun hunting down their Easter eggs. Once a child had found an egg
they could trade it in for a real chocolate egg! The children did a great job helping their friends
find an egg if they were having trouble.
Once the egg hunt was over the children used their plastic eggs for an egg and spoon race
while some of their friend played ‘pin the tail on the bunny’! It was very entertaining to watch the
children place their tails on the rabbit’s eyes, nose, ears or even on the Perspex about 1 metre
away from the picture of the rabbit! The children cheered each other on and the older children
tried really hard to listen to and follow the teacher’s directions as they attempted to get closer
than their friends. Everyone played really well together and displayed their skills in turn taking,
sharing and encouraging one another. A wonderful day was had by all!

Eva and Amanda set up different sensory activities throughout the school that were
alternated between stages throughout the day. There was a sensory surprise Easter box,
which was beautifully decorated with Easter Bunny’s and Eggs, glitter and much more.
There was two openings to Easter surprise box, where the children could insert their
hands and feel around. This gave them great joy as they manipulated their digits
feeling things like marshmallows, feathers, squishy assortments.
Stage 1 The nest, hatchlings and fledglings were at first puzzled by the appealing box.
Some children very eager to put their hands in the hole, others hesitant at first however
once they did thoroughly enjoyed the sensory aspect.
Stage 2 The chicks, sparrows and robins, took a different approach, and began shaking
the box to hear the different noises that it was making.
Stage 3 and 4 were straight into it and began trying to pull the objects out after they
had their turn off feeling inside the box.

PJ and Movie Day By Miss Holly
As everyone arrived for pj and movie day the excitement grew, the chil-
dren were very interested in the different choices of sleepwear and spent
some time comparing slippers and gowns!
Once everyone had arrived it was time to find a comfy spot on the floor
with a cushion. The children waited patiently for their popcorn as the mov-
ie started. The look of excitement and wonder as they saw the familiar
face of Peppa Pig was lovely to see. The popcorn was passed around and
refills were given.
Once the movie had finished the children transitioned to various activities
around the classroom, a group of children initiated a creative drawing ex-
perience reflecting the movie. This drew the attention of their peers and
soon there were two tables set up for Pepper Pig related drawings.
Thank you to everyone that joined us for our last day of relaxing vacation care
fun!

Easter Cooking By Miss Bernadette
All age groups across the school engaged in an Easter provocation that revolved
around food. The children were provided with arrowroot biscuits to decorate, in the im-
age of Easter eggs. The children approached the provocation in various ways. Some
of the younger children were keen to explore the environment and experiment with
the items in front of them, using their sense of sight and touch. With some assistance
they decorated their cookies.
Other older children were very calculated in how they decorated their biscuits. They
asked inquiry questions about how to make icing and what colours mixed together to
make new colours on their ‘eggs’. Children of all ages were able to explore through
trial and error the best way to place sprinkles and sugar decorations on their eggs so
that they didn’t fall off.
While some children saved their creations to eat at morning tea – others couldn’t help
themselves, and their creations were consumed as soon as they were finished decorat-
ing. This provocation proved to be a stimulating and fun way to echo the joy and cele-
bration that many families experience over the Easter long weekend.
