Regal Processors Ltd. process over 90% of the available bovine and porcine blood on the island of Ireland, sourced from EC approved slaughterhouses, for the manufacture of spray dried animal blood products – functional proteins.

The EC Regulations regarding the manufacture of spray dried blood products are enforced nationally by DAERA NI – Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs for Northern Ireland.

Category 3 materials – Article 10 (a) (…) parts of animals slaughtered (…) and which are fit for human consumption (…) but are not intended for human consumption for commercial reasons; “Blood post-mortem inspected and fit for human: food grade” (b) (i) (…) parts of animals which are rejected as unfit for human consumption (…) but which did not show any signs of disease communicable to humans or animals (…) originating (…) from animals that have been slaughtered in a slaughterhouse and were considered fit for slaughter for human consumption following an ante-mortem inspection “Blood ante-mortem inspected”
(EC) No 999/2001 as regards prohibitions concerning animal feeding of processed animal proteins derived
from non-ruminant animals (latest amendment 56/2013)
