2,511 children were screened across 21 primaryschools
on average that the bottom 20 per cent of
children made significant gains in reading. Reading: 42 per cent of 500 children with most
severe difficulties moved from the belowaverage range to average.
Those with the most pronounced difficulties
made some progress and were not seen to fallfurther behind their peers, as is often the case.

Resources are effective in a whole
school setting because:
Can be used with children with a wide range of
abilities
Are skill-based, not age-specific, and so older
children are not demeaned
Can be used by non-specialist teaching staff
Provide a tool kit for Teaching Assistants
working with children with SEN
Can be used as part of group teaching
Develop independent learning skills

Active Literacy Kit
With P4L you can make 5 minutes count!
The teaching materials allow us to focus onteaching the children and not on paperwork
because they do all the reporting and
monitoring for us; and one
exercise informs the next.

I love the game where you have to feel
the letters and work out what they are
without looking Michael aged 10
The Active Literacy Kit is a comprehensive package of highquality support materials. Initial assessment provides vitalbaseline information and the means to construct effectiveaction plans. The accompanying manuals give detailed
information on the use of materials and a variety of photo-copiable resources. The children enjoyed working through thecarefully graded exercises and are motivated by the timechallenges.
