This product is suitable forexperienced professional users only.Tests with actual substrates andconditions have to be performed toensure adhesion and materialcompatibility.
Cure MechanismSikaflex
-221 cures by reaction with
atmospheric moisture. At lowtemperatures the water content ofthe air is generally lower and thecuring reaction proceeds somewhatslower (see diagram).

Chemical ResistanceSikaflex
-221 is resistant to fresh
water, seawater, limewater, sewageeffluent, diluted acids and causticsolutions; temporarily resistant tofuels, mineral oils, vegetable and
animal fats and oils; not resistant toorganic acids, alcohol, concentratedmineral acids and caustic solutionsor solvents. The above information is offered forgeneral guidance only. Advice onspecific applications will be given onrequest. Contact the TechnicalService Department of Sika Industryat 888-832-7452.
Method of ApplicationSurface preparationSurfaces must be clean, dry andfree from all traces of grease, oil and
dust. The substrates must be
prepared in accordance with theinstructions given in the current SikaPrimer Chart. Advice on specificapplications is available from theTechnical Service Department ofSika Industry.
ApplicationCartridges: Pierce cartridgemembrane.
Unipacs: Place unipac in theapplication gun and snip off theclosure clip.Cut off the tip of the nozzle to suitjoint width and apply the sealant intothe joint with a suitable handoperated or compressed air gun, taking care to avoid air entrapment.Once opened, packs should be usedup within a relatively short time. Donot apply at temperatures below41F (5C) or above 104F (40C).The optimum temperature forsubstrate and sealant is between59F (15C) and 77F (25C). For
advice on selecting and setting up asuitable pump system, as well as onthe techniques of pump operatedapplication, please contact theSystem Engineering Department ofSika Industry at 888-832-7452.
Tooling and finishingTooling and finishing must becarried out within the tack free timeof the sealant. We recommend theuse of Sika
-Slick Cutout Lubricant
and Tooling Agent. Other finishingagents or lubricants must be testedfor suitability/compatibility.
RemovalUncured Sikaflex
-221 can be
removed from tools and equipmentwith Sika
Remover-208 or another
suitable solvent. Strictly followsolvent manufacturer's warnings andinstruction for use. Once cured, thematerial can only be removedmechanically. Hands and exposedskin should be washed immediatelyusing a suitable industrial handcleaner and water. Do not usesolvents on skin!
Overpainting
Sikaflex-221 can be overpaint
when tack-free. The paint and paprocess must be tested compatibility by carrying opreliminary trials. Sikaflex
-2
should not be exposed to bakitemperatures until it has attained fcure. The hardness and fthickness of the paint may impair telasticity of the sealant and lead cracking of the paint film with time
Limitations
Avoid application below 41F (5and above 104F (40C). Do napply on frozen or wet surfaces through standing water. Do napply over silicones or in tpresence of curing siliconeContact with alcohol or alcohcontaining solvents will prevecure.
WARNING:IRRITANT, SENSITIZER. ContaiPolyisocyanate Prepolym(Mixture), Xylene (CAS 1330-20-Causes eye irritation. May causkin/respiratory irritation.
