Day 2: London
Arrive in London
Ranging from the North Sea in the east to the playing fields of Eton in the
west, London covers an area of some 620 square miles and is home to
over 8 million people. Prepare to observe the stunning architecture,vibrant street life and royal majesty of this bustling metropolis.
Walking tour of London
Stroll through the heart of London on your Tour Director-led walking tour,
which begins along the banks of the River Thames. As you walk along
the ancient embankment, note that these shadowy waters gave the city
its name, which derives from Llyn-Dyn, Celtic for “city of the lake.” Walk
along the Strand and see the spot from which all distances to London
are measured. Enter Trafalgar Square, where you're sure to meet the
world's most famous pigeons, and pause at Nelson's column, a symbol
of Britain's once unrivaled naval power. Continue on to Leicester Square
and end your walk at chic Covent Garden, where street performers (or
“buskers”) amuse the lively crowds. (The exact walking route may vary,depending on your hotel location and the day's other activities.)
Thames River Cruise
See the famous sights of London from a cruise down the River Thames.
Drifting under some of the city's landmark bridges, you will pass by the
Houses of Parliament and the South Bank arts complex. As you
approach the Tower of London, enjoy spectacular views of the dome ofSt. Paul's Cathedral before getting the perfect shot of Tower Bridge.

Day 3: London
Guided sightseeing of London
A local guide leads you on a panoramic tour of London. Begin in
Grosvenor Square; site of the U.S. embassy and the house where
Eisenhower once lived, this area is sometimes called “Little America.”
Continue to Hyde Park Corner, located at the southeast corner of Hyde
Park, one of London's largest parks. At bustling Piccadilly Circus, the
intersection of five busy streets, check out the bright lights and big city
displays, before heading to Trafalgar Square, site of Nelson's Column,
built to commemorate his 1805 victory in the Battle of Trafalgar. Pass
Speaker's Corner, where anyone with something to say is invited to
speak his mind. Snap a photo of the Houses of Parliament and continue
along London's South Bank for views of the famous Tower of London
and London Bridge. View St. Paul's Cathedral, the magnificent
17th-century Baroque church designed by Sir Christopher Wren. Finally,
witness a London tradition: the Changing of the Guard. (Subject toscheduling)
Guided excursion to Windsor
Constructed by William the Conqueror in 1070, Windsor castle has been
a preferred royal retreat for the last 900 years. Since a devastating fire in
1992, much of the State Apartments have been renovated. Outside the
grounds of the castle, the town of Windsor offers a bustling mixture of
both traditional and modern shops, as well as restaurants serving local
favorites like Fish & Chips and Bangers & Mash. (Note: If the Queen is in
residence, and the official apartments are closed, you will visit St.George's Chapel or Queen Mary's Dolls' House.)

Day 4: London
Globe Theatre Tour & Workshop
Take a fresh approach to Shakespeare during an interactive lecture at
London's Globe Theatre. During Elizabethan times, the Thames-side
playhouse was popular with Londoners craving a little Shakespearian
diversion. Learn about the layout and social importance of the theater
and develop a keener sense of Shakespeare with a variety of hands-on
activities. (In cases where the workshop is not available, groups willinstead enjoy a special literary walking tour of London.)
Explore Borough Market
Take some time to explore historic Borough Market, one of the oldest
and most highly regarded fresh food markets in the city, with over 100
individual stalls. Allow your senses to be enticed by bubbling vats of
curry, slabs of English cheese, sizzling sausages and mouthwateringgourmet sweets and baked delights.
Visit the Tower of London
The history of London comes to life at this complex of 20 towers
surrounding Tower Green. The oldest tower, known as the White Tower,
was completed in 1097, when it was the tallest building in London. The
Tower buildings have had many uses over the years; perhaps the most
infamous was as a jail for political prisoners, not to mention two of Henry
VIII's wives. The most famous exhibits at the Tower are the British Crown
Jewels. Aside from a short interruption during WWII, these splendidbaubles have been locked behind the Tower's walls for centuries.
Attend an evening theatre performance
Participate in London's vibrant drama scene as you attend an evening
theater performance in the West End. London has over 80 mainstream
theaters-the largest array in the world-featuring everything from traditionalclassics to cutting edge works by new writers.

Guided tour of the British Library's Treasures Collection
The British Library houses an impressive 150 million items in many
languages and forms. The undeniable highlight is the Sir John Ritblat
Treasures of the British Library Gallery. The collection includes original
copies of a dizzying array of iconic English works from Shakespeare's
first folio, to the Magna Carta, to Jane Austen's greats, to Alice inWonderland and even hand written lyrics by the Beatles.

Questioning Texts develops students' understanding of context and
chronology within English Literature. Engaging with selected items from
the Library's extensive collection, this workshop will challenge students
to consider the influence of context, purpose and audience on the
creation and reception of texts. Students will be guided through a variety
of activities, inspired by items on display in our Treasure Gallery, and
encouraged to examine historical and contemporary extracts in order todevelop their ability to make critical comparisons across texts.
Walking tour of Hyde Park
Public Speaking activity at Speaker's Corner
A bastion of free speech since Victorian times, Speaker's Corner in Hyde
Park is one of the best-known locations for public speaking and debate
in the world. The premise is simple: anybody can turn up and talk on any
subject they like, as long as it is lawful. Members of the public soon stop
to listen, respond and, on occasion, enter into animated debate with
speakers. Learn about the history of this place and practice a few publicspeaking techniques of your own.
Visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum
Spend some time exploring the official home of Sherlock Holmes. 221b
Baker Street is now protected by the government due to its historical
significance and much of the house is still maintained as it would have in
the Victorian Era when Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson would have
spent time together solving the mysteries of London in the famous firstfloor study.

Media Workshop at Sky Studios Academy (pending confirmation)
Sky Academy Studios' `FACT: News Reporting' offers a
once-in-a-lifetime learning experience for teachers and students. It's a
unique and innovative way to bring the curriculum to life, as students
work together with talented professional studio staff in a bespoke TV
studio to create their own news report. You can choose from ten
inspiring topics that fire young people's imaginations and help them
explore and express their voice on a range of relevant issues. With the
help of our expert team at Sky, students will learn about how to structurea news report and communicate their ideas to the audience.
Harry Potter Studio Experience
Travel to Leavesden to visit the studio where the iconic Harry Potter films
were shot. You will take a self-guided tour and see up-close the actual
sets used in filming, costumes, and props. You may even hear a secret
or two about the special effects and animatronics that were used in the
films' makings. Take a seat in the Great Hall where the characters ate
their meals, find hidden treasures in Dumbledore's office, and stroll downDiagon Alley. (Pending availability due to limited group reservations)

Guided Sightseeing tour of Oxford
Learn more about the English academic tradition in the nation's most
renowned university town. You will see the Sheldonian Theatre, designed
by Christopher Wren when he was Professor of Astronomy. From herestep into the silent Old Schools Quad, courtyard of the Bodleian library.

Visit the historic research library of the University of Oxford which is home
to Duke Humfrey's Library, the Old Schools Quadrangle with its Great
Gate and Tower, the Radcliffe Camera, Britain's first circular library, andthe Clarendon Building.

Day 8: Birmingham region | Stratford-upon-Avon | London
Guided sightseeing of Stratford-upon-Avon
Begin your tour by the statue of Shakespeare's jester. From here you will
enter the Shakespeare museum and birthplace to learn more about the
works of England's most famed writer. This half-timbered Tudor building
offers detailed insight into life 500 years ago. Leaving the house, you will
head towards the River Avon to see fine examples of the houseboats thatstill journey along England's intricate canal ways.
Visit Shakespeare's Birthplace and Anne Hathaway's House
The town of Stratford-upon-Avon is of course most famous as the
birthplace and home of William Shakespeare. The town is amazingly
preserved from its Tudor past and visiting both the home of the Bard
himself and the famous cottage of Shakespeare's wife before theymarried gives you an excellent idea of what life was like during their time.
