The Tower of London The Tower of London

London’s oldest building.

Since it was built by William the Conqueror in the 11th century,

this castle has been a royal palace, a prison, a place of execution, a zoo, the Royal Mint and an observatory. Today it’s a museum and

houses the Crown Jewels.

of battles and Chamber of Horrors.

Westminster Abbey

It was built in the 11th century. Many kings, queens and famous people were buried and

crowned there.

St Paul’s Cathedral

It was built between 1675 and 1710 by Sir Christopher Wren. It is the fifth church put on the same site. It is 111 m high.

Trafalgar Square

The Square was named to commemorate Admiral Nelson’s naval victory over the French at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. It is a place where people meet and a traditional place of political demonstrations.

British Museum

The British Museum founded in 1753, houses the works of man from prehistoric times to the present day. The British Library is housed within the British Museum.

In Hyde Park every weekend you can listen to people making speeches at the Speaker’s Corner. Anyone has the right to speak here.

Piccadilly Circus

It is a large round square and a meeting point of six streets. There is a statue of Eros in the middle of the square. The steps of the statue are the favourite place of young people in
