WHAT IS SIFE? SIFE brings together a diverse network of university
students, academic professionals and industry leaders
around the shared mission of creating a better, more
sustainable world through the positive power of
business. By contributing their talents to projects that
improve the lives of people worldwide, SIFE
participants are demonstrating that individuals with a
knowledge and passion for business can be a powerful
force for change.
OUR MISSION Students develop leadership through
entrepreneurship and community service with
guidance from faculty advisors and members of the
business community. Students can work on a variety
of projects helping entrepreneurs, non-profits,
businesses and/or government.

EXECUTIVE POSITIONS VP Public Relations
Position description:
Accountable for internal and external liaisons
Developing and implementing ways to increase brand awareness of SIFE UALBERTA
Responsible for building relationships with industry professionals, faculty and other
potential stakeholders of SIFE UALBERTA.
Responsible for building a positive image for SIFE UALBERTA on and off campus
Responsible for creating a sponsorship package for SIFE
Oversees the responsibilities of the Marketing Director and IT Director
Required attributes/skills:
Strong leadership and communication skills
Confident public speaker
Time organization
Outgoing and personable
Experience with sponsorship or external portfolio
Clear understanding of SIFE operations
Able to work individually or in a team setting
Time Commitment per week: 8-10 hours

Marketing Associate (3 positions available) Position Description:
Marketing associates are the backbone of Pale Vista
Work on research projects as needed
Manage tasks given to us by various charity organizations
Communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders
Attend and be prepared to work during various charity events
Be able to work independently as well as in a team-setting
Required attributes/skills:
Be able to give and take direction and criticism
The ability to multitask and work on multiple projects at once
Excellent research skills may be required
Well-developed communication skills
Good public speaking skills preferred, but not required
Time Commitment per week: 1-5 hours (More time commitment closer to event days)

Volunteer Coordinator
Position Description:
Oversees volunteers at events
Organize and schedule volunteer staff as needed
Work on site with stakeholders to optimize labour force
Organize schedules and event details
Give criticism as needed
Be able to work independently as well as in a team-setting
Required attributes/skills:
Strong leadership skills
Must be able to attend events as scheduled
Outgoing and personable
Be comfortable with public speaking and large crowds
Able to adapt easily to changing environments
Be open minded

Position Description:
Responsible for building relations between Pale Vista (or SIFE) and various not for
profit organizations
May need to research organizations and their industries
Create and help brand Pale Vista’s image
Communicate effectively with stakeholders and clients
Act as a liaison between Pale Vista and external organizations
Assist in Maintain Pale Vista’s website and ensuring social media is up to date
Be able to work independently as well as in a team-setting
Required attributes/skills:
Strong communication (personal or electronic) and presentation skills
Outgoing and easy to talk to
Able to network effectively
Excellent research skills
Be creative and have an open mindset
Time Commitment per week: 1-3 hours

Lead Designer
Position Description:
Oversee Pale Vista’s design team
Work with design team on projects as assigned by clients
Occasionally initiate projects with little direction
May be asked to work on any other tasks that a designer may be asked to do
Be able to work independently as well as in a team-setting
Required attributes/skills:
Strong leadership skills
The ability to work exceptionally well in a team environment
Well organized
The ability to multitask
A creative and open mindset
Time Commitment per week: 1-5 hours (more time commitment as events approach)

Designer
Position Description:
Work in a team on various projects as assigned by clients
Create promotional products (videos, posters, t-shirts, etc)
Collaborate with clients to design Marketing material
Use computer programs to effectively create usable material
Website maintenance or editing may be required
Required attributes/skills:
Be able to work in a variety of mediums
Able to work effectively in a team environment
Knowledge of photo/video software is an asset (eg. Photoshop, etc.)
The ability to meet deadlines
A creative and open mindset
Be able to work independently as well as in a team-setting

Project Manager
Position description:
• Oversees all operation of the Healing Camp Project. • Working with VP Projects to create an overall vision for “Healing Camp.” • Setting up meetings to discuss ideas and delegate tasks to designated team leaders
and their members • Reporting to VP Projects on bi-weekly basis to keep an update on progress of the
project. • Accountable for a main liaison between Healing Camp project and
sponsors/external parties. • Responsible for ensuring that deadlines and milestones are being met.

Clear understanding and vision for Healing Camp

Position description:

Responsible for creating various programs available inside Healing Camp (e.g. Job
search program, Drug rehabilitation program, empowerment program.)
Responsible for creating various events available to Healing Camp residences (e.g.
Bingo night, Halloween party, movie night etc..)
Responsible for researching various programs already offered in Edmonton for the
homeless and how these can be implemented and be improved in Healing Camp
facilities.

Position description:
Responsible for creating and managing Healing Camp’s social networking websites.
Responsible for collaborating with External team to create promotional materials
for Healing Camp
Responsible for developing marketing strategy to create awareness for Healing
camp
Responsible for creating marketing campaign of Healing Camp to accept donations
from companies and people.
Required attributes/skills:
Excellent communication skills
Excellent time management
Creative and engaging
Skills in Photoshop, website and graphic design are a definite asset
Able to work individually or in a team setting
Time Commitment per week: 4-5 hours

GREENSCAPE POSITIONS
Operations Managers (4)
Assist project manager by researching materials such as eco-friendly lawn care
materials, market for lawn care service
Assist project manager by creating budgets for GreenScape start-up cost
Research various facilities and recruit at-risk youth
Market GreenScape brand in local Edmonton
Manage staff and provide landscaping services for Greenscape’s clients.
Required attributes/skills:
Excellent communication skills
Excellent time management
Creative and engaging
Able to work openly in a team setting
Tolerance for strong personalities
Past experience in Landscaping is a definite asset
Must reside in Edmonton during summer
Time commitment per week: 4-5 hours. This is subject to change during the summer
months, when this project is more active.

Presenter
Position Description:
Promote knowledge and understanding of money matters, primarily matters of
student personal finance
Work with other presenters and project manager to develop a strategy that best
promotes the knowledge of personal finance
Attend and present at scheduled classroom presentations
Required Attributes/Skills:
Strong public speaking skills needed
Able to work individually and in a group setting
Proficient at PowerPoint
Experience in teaching / tutoring is an asset
Time Commitment per week: 5-6 hours

POSITIONS
Researcher
Position Description:
Assist project manager and presenters by researching material such as behavioral
finance, personal finance and economics.
Work with presenters to develop a strategic presentation
Required Attributes/Skills:
Able to work individually and in a group setting
Strong work ethic
Proficient in Microsoft Word
Experience in research / market research is an asset
Time Commitment per week: 2-3 hours

TRANSITION INTO A NEW
CULTURE POSITIONS
Exchange Students Ambassador
* Exchange students are strongly encouraged to apply
Position Description:
Work with project manager and other team mates to engage exchange students in
various events
Plan and execute various events to welcome and engage international students
Attend all planned events and help wit h the logistics of the events
Responsible for recruitment of volunteers if needed for an event
Required attributes/skills:
Enthusiastic and outgoing
Organizational and time management skills
Attention to details
