Note

You should only start to work with the programming device using batterypower if the rechargeable battery is fully charged. Only then can you becertain that the maximum operating time is available to you and you aregiven enough warning when the battery is low. The battery is fully chargedwhen the “Power” LED switches from “loading” (orange) to “loaded”(green) when you plug into the line power supply.

As soon as the device is connected to the network via the power supply unit,a discharged battery is recharged: if the device is switched off, the batterycan be recharged within two hours; if the device is switched on with reducedcharging current, this takes about six hours.

You should not let the battery become too low. Switch the device off withthe on/off switch after use. If the device is not used for some time, forexample, several weeks, you should remove the battery plug. This is the bestway of saving the battery and ensuring it has a longer life, since it has noconnection to the device. The battery can be found behind the battery coveron the underside of the device. It can be accessed when the device is placedin a horizontal position.

The charging process may finish too early if the device is subjected to asignificant change in temperature, or when operating in high ambienttemperatures (max. 40°C). You should wait until your device has beenacclimatized before charging the battery.

!Caution

When disposing of used rechargeable batteries, please observe your localregulations for waste disposal.

A backup battery (3.6 V lithium battery) powers the hardware clock evenwhen the power supply to the device is switched off.

!WarningRisk of severe personal injury or property damage, danger of release ofharmful substances.

Danger of explosion if battery is not handled properly; incorrect disposal ofused batteries can cause the release of harmful substances.

Do not throw a new or discharged lithium battery into an open fire, do notsolder on to the body of the battery. Do not recharge the battery and do notopen the battery by force.
