CANCER SERVICES OF NORTHEAST INDIANA ♦ NOVEMBER 2018 ♦ VOL 75 ♦ ISSUE 4

A recurring gift is a gift that keeps on giving. In the literal sense, a recurring gift allows donors to

schedule repeated donations on a timetable that worksbest for them and their budget. These special gifts alsogive Cancer Services of the Northeast Indiana the abilityto plan for the future.

Cancer Services’ recurring gift program was createdwith donors’ convenience in mind. Director of FinanceHans Sauder said supporters can now complete arecurring gift form, which directs Cancer Services tomake an automatic withdrawal from the donor’s bank

account or credit card account according to the donor’s preferred schedule. The donor sets the rules on how and when the donation is withdrawn.

“We have several committed donors who consistently write checks ormake a donation by credit card every month or every quarter,” said Sauder.“I wanted to make that process much easier for these special donors.”

For supporters like Michael Gibson, making a recurring gift brings a certainpeace of mind.

Gibson began supporting CancerServices when his wife, Carol, used itsservices during her battle with ovariancancer. He has continued to support CancerServices in Carol’s memory since she

passed away six years ago. He makes monthly donations to several causes hecares about, and he wanted to do the same for people with cancer. He knewCancer Services would provide the services that would be most helpful to localpeople touched by cancer.

“I didn’t want to get into a situation where I have to write checks all thetime,” Gibson said. “Cancer Services is one of five or six organizations that Igive to monthly, so it’s so much easier to have it go through a credit card.”

In addition to increasing the convenience for donors, the new recurring giftprogram is important to Cancer Services. With this system in place, CancerServices gains a clearer snapshot of monthly and quarterly donations. Thisgives Cancer Services the ability to better plan innovative programming as theorganization enters 2019 and begins its celebration of 75 years of service toour community.

All it takes is one visit to set up a recurring gift. The simple recurring giftform allows the donor to customize a plan that works best for them. Thedonations can be withdrawn via credit card or directly from a banking account, and the donor sets the starting date and the withdrawal date of each gift.

A recurring gift does not have to be a large gift to make an impact — infact, a monthly donation of $10 over one year can add up to one month ofnutritional supplement for a client undergoing chemotherapy.

“If you are a donor who budgets on a monthly or quarterly basis, this is aneasy way to make a consistent donation within your budget,” said Sauder.
