Structured Data Capture - SDC

The Structured Data Capture (SDC) initiative will develop and validate a standards-based data architecture so that a structured set of data can be accessed from EHRs and be stored for merger with comparable data for other relevant purposes.

Structured Data Capture - SDCThese include:

• The electronic Case Report Form (eCRF) used for clinical research including Patient Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR)

• The Incident Report used for patient safety reporting leveraging AHRQ ‘Common Formats’

• The Surveillance Case Report Form used for public health reporting of infectious diseases

• The collection of patient information used for determination of coverage, as resources permit.

Public Health Reporting InitiativeThe final consensus-based documents have been published on the PHRI website:

PHRI is collaborating with ONC Initiatives to share with the Structured Data Capture Initiative (SDC) the experiences and lessons learned from the CDA for Public Health Pilot Projects that used Retrieve Form for Data Capture (RFD) as a transport for public health reporting.

The development of trust bundle publishing tools is proceeding rapidly. Three pilot communities have signed up to pilot publishing and consumption of trust bundles: Western States Consortium, ABBI, and DirectTrust.

Laboratory Orders Initiative – LOI

371 of 400 comments resolved. LOI is on track to publish its Implementation Guide (IG) by June 15th. ONC and NIST are working closely together and plan to release the balloted IG and test framework in tandem.
