Program Description It’s no secret that medical school admissions are extremely competitive. At the University of New Haven, we take a unique and progressive approach to preparing our students to attend medical school through the pre-medical studies designation. Our pre-medical studies designation is not an academic major or stand-alone program. It must be declared in addition to an academic major via the Health Professions Advising Center. The pre-medical studies designation is open to all University of New Haven students, regardless of academic major. As a pre-med student at the University of New Haven, you’ll be provided with countless experiential opportunities and the resources to ensure that you’re the most competitive medical school candidate possible. We provide: Faculty-mentored research Study abroad at our Italian campus Volunteer opportunities in the local community Pre-med workshops and boot camps On-campus student organizations and clubs such as HOSA Specialized programs to earn national certification in phlebotomy or as a patient care technician Partnerships with regional hospitals and clinics Admission to medical school is fiercely competitive. Program Features• Coursework: Complete all of your science and social science

prerequisites for the MCAT and most medical schools

• Mentoring: Be assigned a University alumnus or faculty member to mentor you through the process

• MCAT preparation: Attend a winter intersession boot camp to study

• Medical school admissions interviewing preparation

• Receive training on how to interview for medical school

• Receive a recommendation letter from a faculty committee evaluating your readiness for medical school

EligibilityStudents must complete 15 credits of coursework per semester and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 with a science GPA of 3.3.
