SECTION 1: Basic Requirements

1) Submit completed State Council Leader Information Form (SCLIF) by December 1, 2010 to identify all leaders in the coming year.

2) During 2010, all State Council members must be members of SHRM throughout the duration of their term of office.

3) Ensure that your state conference or other major state events (including co-sponsored programs) do not take place “around” the SHRM Annual Conference and Exposition.

4) Provide year-end financial results for the period 1/1/2010 through 12/31/2010.

5) Ensure that the current SHRM “AFFILIATE OF” logo is correctly, consistently and prominently displayed on all printed materials, publications, products & website.

6) Conduct regular state council meetings during the calendar year 2010.

7) Ensure the state is represented at 50 percent of regional council meetings and conference calls.

8) Provide an opportunity for SHRM staff to present an update on the agenda of each state council meeting.

9) Review your state council’s bylaws annually and update as needed.

10) Ensure all chapters in the state submit a completed 2010 Year-End Report by the designated deadline.

3) Create a succession plan, or review your existing plan, to identify potential and future leaders for the State Council.

4) Conduct an annual leadership transition meeting to ensure a smooth and effective transition for new leaders.

5) Conduct an annual planning meeting to develop short-term and review long-term goals.

1) Promote the SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition within the state.

This includes the following activities:

• Include a link prominently displayed on your state council’s web site home page.

• Promote conference to SHRM members and non-SHRM members in the state.

• Distribute SHRM Annual Conference promotional material.

State Annual Conference Contest

•Incentivizes States to drive conversion to this year’s national conference by offering clever premiums to winners.

•Engages chapters and state councils in a state-level friendly competition to build conference spirit and drive SHRM members to register for the Annual Conference

•Contest will rely on Web-based promotion – i.e., the Annual Conference landing page at shrm.org and SHRM e-newsletters – as well as social media tools such as FaceBook and YouTube.

State Annual Conference Contest

• SHRM will promote conference attendance through a spirited state-level competition.

• Efforts will center on engaging each state to beat other states in sending the greatest percentage of attendees to the 2010 conference.

• Defined metrics (registration goals) for each state and percentages of registrants will be tallied and highlighted on the SHRM website’s Annual Conference page by March 15, 2010.

What Do I Do Now?

Step 1: Assign a State Rep as your AC Lead.Step 2: In early March your FSD will set up a call to communicate rules of engagement.Step 3: Secure the ready-to-use promotional pieces from SHRM for use in your communications.Step 4: Communicate, communicate, communicate to the members in your State. Each State will be given 2 (additional) e-blasts between now and June 20 to use for this contest – be creative!Step 5: Check the online dashboard (updated weekly) to keep up with your status

SECTION 3: SHRM Affiliate Support

2) Provide prime booth space and a minimum of 15 minutes podium time to SHRM staff at a state conference or a state-wide event held in lieu of a state conference.

3) Report the number of SHRM members in your state.

4) Develop and/or maintain a current state council web

site.

5) Make a monetary contribution from the state council’s

funds to the SHRM Foundation in 2010.

6) Promote HR Certification Institute certification and recertification as a means of increasing the number of certified professionals in the state.
