The Chilean National

The Chilean National, one of the most competitive show in South America, took place at the country’s capital, Santia-go, April 12 and 13 at the beautiful gardens of the Army Mili-tary School. Thirty breeders show 80 horses to were judged in halter by judges Janice McCrea of the United States and the Brazilians Lenita Perroy and Fabio Amorosino.

As it always happens at this time of the year, beginning of fall in South America, the days were beautiful, the tempera-ture just perfect and the public, made mostly of families, were taken back by the beauty of the Arabian horses. The tasty sh from Chile’s coast and the great wines produced in country gave the right touch to this balmy weekend that also had a great party given by visitors from Haras Santa Marta of Jorge Selume and La Laguna of Alfredo Hasbun.

At the ring the judges ponted to Bey Shah’s bloodline, as the most in uencial strain at this National. His great-grandson LC Farid, belonging to Haras Panquehue and SanGreVal, was the uncontested sire at this National, winning half of the main awards. The other two were the Brazilians Ha ti Express by *RSD Dark Victory and Bey Shadow TGS by *Shahllenger. LC Farid had at this show three champions, ve Reserve and four third places. His grandson HP Ali Champion Minor Colt considered by all three judges as the highlight of this Na-tional, has all the qualities to compete in any show anywhere in the world. Farid’s grandson, HP Ali is the son of HP Sha-kyr in HP Miranda by ST Synbad, Reserve National Cham-pion and National Chilean Champion. LC Farid is a result of a breeding line in Bey Shah. His father, the American Palissade, is a grandson of Bey Shah by Palissandre and his mother, San Jose Camila, is a daughter of Ha ti Express, grandson of Bey Shah by RSD Dark Victory. Beyond two Champion Minors Colts Farid is also the father of Champion Minor Fillie HP Valentina and the Reserve HP Esperanza, belonging to Haras Panquehue of the Bulnes’ family. Valentina’s mother, Sweet Softniness is a Brazilian

LC Farid and Sweet Softniness also produced the Champion Junior Filly Icalma of Haras Quitraman belong Jose and Isabel Guilisasti. Her Reserve, another daughter of Farid, HP Anita is out of Kool Music an Aladdinn’s bloodline by American National Cham-pion Legacy of Gold.

LC Farid is also responsible for the Champion Major Colt SGV Kaweskar bred at Haras Sangreval of Luis Gres and owned by Haras Lonco of Ricardo Duch and the Reserve Champion SGV HP Domingo of Haras Sangreval and Pan-quehue. The Champion Kaweskar is out of SGV Silhan by Jasper El Jamaal. The Reserve Domingo out of Psyche 3rd Mare, Brahma from Haras Panquehue and Haras Quitralmán

Haras La Laguna “Sheik” Alfredo Hasbún leave to mark their presence at the end of the show. From its breeding pro-gram came the Champion Stallion LL Maglud and the Cham-pion Mare LL Honey Dream, they represented very well the traditional genetic base by mating of Bey Shah and theTouch a Dream showing the new direction of the breeding program of Haras Laguna, with the additional bloodline of Magnum Psyche, Ali Jamaal and El Shaklan. The Champion LL Ma-

glud is the son of Argentinian ZT Magnanimous, that is now in the United States managed by Michael Byat. Magnanimus is the son of AB Magnum in ZT Shakmontelle, a daughter of El Shaklan. The mother of LL Maglud is ZT Ludjeyna daughter of the Brazilian Sire Ludjin El Jamaal. The Cham-pion Mare was LL Honey Dream, one of the daughters of Bey Shadow TGS in Touch a Dream by Negatraz.

Another highlight of this show was the Champion Major Filly MG Aya Sophya, bred by Haras Montegrande of Sergio Vergara. This beautiful grey is the daughter of the Brazilian Stallion Shamis El Madan the new sire at Vergara’s Haras,

introducing into the Chilean breeding program the bloodline of Shael Dream Desert and Endyara HRO, daughter of the Brazilian National Champion Lumiar Amadeus. The Reserve was Lady K from Hacienda Chado of Carlos Barros. She is daughter of LL Khartoum by Sfahan a son of the Ameri-can National Champion Echo Magni coo. Her mother, LL Dancing Dream, is another daughter of Bey Shah and Touch a Dream.

Haras Panquehue of the Bulne’s family ended this great National with one more Champion and two Reserves, all sons of a stallions born in Brazil. The Champion Jr. Colt HP El

Fayed is the son of Johann El Jamaal, that nowadays is one of the greatest sire of that breeding program. The Reserve Champiom Mare HP Polaca is the daughter of Hafati Express that also gave Chile the beautiful San Jose Javiera, an Ameri-can National Champion. HP Polaca belongs to an association between Haras Panquehue and Haras El Taihuen de Pirque of Jorge Marin. The Reserve Champion Stallion HP Majeed, also from Haras Panquehue of the Bulnes’ family and Haras Aguas Clara of Herman Chadwick, is the son of the Brazilian Reserve National Champion ST Synbad, grandson of the Rus-sian Menes through Hallux.
